I am a middle-aged menopausal mom of two super neat kids (both adopted internationally). My daughter was born in China and was adopted when she was nine months old, and my son was adopted from the Philippines at the age of eight. They are both 10 years old now and doing well in school. My wonderful husband of eighteen years works at a hardware warehouse in a nearby town and I work at the county extension office as a secretary/designer. We have a pet (tiger-striped) cat named Pepper.
I am a fan of Contemporary Christian music with artists such as Point of Grace, Zoe Girl, Mercy Me, Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, and the like. I listen mostly to our local Christian radio station called WBCL (90.3 fm) Radio in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
When I do have a chance to sit and read a book, it would probably be a Christian fiction type. There are so many wonderful books being published now in this genre that it is hard to keep up with all the wonderful stuff coming out. I love the action/drama type, the understandable edge-of-your-seat kind that keep my interest going.
My husband and I don't get to see many movies together having young kids and all, but when we have a chance he likes westerns and historical, and I like mostly science fiction or futuristic type (Star Trek, etc.), action/drama, and maybe a romantic here and there. I guess one of my all time favorites has been the Titanic.
Television is also a hit and miss type of thing...when I have a chance to sit and watch, it will probably be a reality show. My favorites are Survivor, Amazing Race, Biggest Loser, Dancing With The Stars, American Idol (alittle), etc. When I was a little girl, I remember watching all the episodes of Star Trek, Gilligan's Island, Brady Bunch, Partridge Family and stuff like that. Boy, those were the days!
I enjoy all crafts for the most part except knitting and sewing. I dabble in lots of things but really enjoy creating ATCs. This was something I wanted to do for a number of years but just know starting to find a niche in this artistic venture. My expertise is in color pencil drawing. I have exhibited and sold numerous drawings since my years in college (BA degree in Graphic Design) some twenty plus years ago. I also enjoy watercolor painting, scrapbooking, rubber stamping, flower sculpture, jewelry making, caligraphy, digital photography, computer design, or anything I find at a craft store that I just have to try out!
Green tea, cats and kittens, nature and flowers, chocolate and sweets, traveling, garage sales, Coke Zero (lost 90 pounds since 2005 and am struggling to keep it off), walking (and jogging) for exercise, warm sunny days, floral perfume and soap, restaurant gift cards, and my kids/ husband when they are in a good mood (like who doesn't)!
