Just remember, if the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off. Author Unknown
I like to garden as much as I like to breath. I don't always pull all the weeds and I don't have a beautiful green lawn. A garden is a work in progress, never finished, never perfect. I don't use the Latin or botanical names for plants, usually it's a general term that would cover the whole category; like 'iris' or 'hosta' or 'weed'.
I'm the mother of 3 teenagers. Hannah is 19 and off to college in a couple of weeks, Henry is 16, just finished his summer job with the YCC group at Yellowstone, and Sophie is 14, she has artistic tendencies but does't like to be defined.
I love music. My kids have exposed me to their styles and eh, it's ok. I like all kinds of music.
Besides teenagers, we have 2 cats and 2 dogs. My husband is in Search and Rescue with the youngest dog. The old dog is a retired show dog, handed down for the kids to use in 4-H. The rest of them are shelter animals. You can train a shelter dog for Search and Rescue. Please alter your animal.
We just added another dog. We are officially living in Crazytown! She's a 10 year old little dog. She deserves a nice home and we intend to make the rest of her life comfortable and meth free.
Art. Well, there are so many types of art. I feel fortunate when an exhibit comes along to our area and I can see it. I had the chance to see the Mona Lisa once and instead I climbed the steps to the Eiffle Tower. I'd do it again, the view is magnificent. And yet, I'd still like to see Ms. Lisa.
I participate in a program called Soldier's Angels. We send cards and care packages to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. There is no politics involved or allowed, it's just showing the Heroes of our county that they are not forgotten and are appreciated for their dedication to their jobs. If you are interested, please feel free to pm me and I will tell you more about it.
I'm a paper whore.
My favorite color is purple, but every color of the rainbow is enjoyable, so I don't exclude any.
Cooking...ugh.
Oh, there are so many things I cannot do. Most of them involve technology. You'll notice a lack of pictures. I can take them and print them up the old fashion way, but when it comes to electronics, I'm at a loss.
I also do not sew, crochet or knit. I admire anyone that can take yarn or fabric and turn it into something. My SIL even raises alpacas and sheep for yarn. She dyes it, there's something in the middle here that she does, spins it and then knits it into beautiful things...socks, scarves, purses....
I've just dusted off my sewing machine and I'm making a concerted effort to force some creative juices to flow through it. I love the racks of fabrics at the stores and have been feeling as if I'm missing out on a great adventure. I just wish I'd paid attention to what my mother had to say about techniques.
I love to grow things, but have found there are certain things that will not grow for me. The first step is admiting it...Roses take too much attention, delphinium disappears, and for some reason, poppies fail to grow from seed.
Finding something in my PO box besides an echo.
World Peace. I know we can do it. I just need to live long enough.
Haven't seen a good movie in a while. I wish there was a movie out there that wasn't predictable. Or had an actor holding a Coke (TM) can.
Funny, off kilter, unexpectedly delightful occurrences.

My sewing machine is still in it's original box from 5 years ago! Has the group ever met up for a craft night? Maybe we should set up a learn how to sew night! Have a Happy Day!

I just love the package you sent me that didn't suck in DCTTDS tag. The slinky is so fun, man I haven't played with one of those in decades, it is kind of um...meditative actually (and funny to see it walk, hee hee). The Skinny is just beautiful, will display on my wall of fame, and also the little prayer flags I just love them! Thank you so much for the awesome tag.
Belated Happy Birthday! We Virgos are so darn special... ;-)
