Katie is a literature enthusiast with an MA in English Lit and a long list of things she likes to squee about. She's married to the most wonderful woman on this planet or any other, with whom she has two cats.

Most of the music I listen to is Japanese - Gackt, YUKI, Shinohara Tomoe, Sakamoto Maaya - but lately I've been listening on repeat to every Killers song I can get onto my iPod. I also like what I've heard is called "symphonic metal," by groups like Within Temptation. I also like Evanescence, The Smashing Pumpkins, E Nomine, The Goo Goo Dolls, and The Decemberists. Instrumental music makes me very happy too, especially if it's from one of the various video games I love.

Right now, I'm in the stranglehold of a major obsession with Sherlock Holmes. Therefore, I adore anything and everything to do with Holmes, Watson, Lestrade, and Victorian London. Other than that, my favorite things to read are generally pre-1900 European literature (Old English epics, the Nibelungelied, Chretien de Troyes, Shakespeare, Christopher Marlowe, Wilkie Collins), some hard-boiled detective fiction (Philip Marlowe FTW!), 20th century fantasy like Tolkien and Zelazny, and currently, Harry Dresden.

I love historical movies and Shakespeare adaptations (Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet and the Twelfth Night with Ben Kingsley in particular). I'm also a huge sucker for British serials like House of Cards. I also get huge amounts of pleasure out of fantasy and sci-fi, like Lord of the Rings and Star Trek. On the anime side, I love Miyazaki :3

There's so much! XD I don't watch a lot of actual TV, like what's on right now, but I have DVDs upon DVDs of shows that I love.

Anime: Shoujo Kakumei Utena, Sailor Moon, Gankutsuou, Last Exile, Slayers, Pokemon, Princess Tutu, Ouran Host Club...

Live-action: Sherlock Holmes (Granada's series, the Russian TV movies), Starsky & Hutch, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Rome, CSI, X-Files...

I like to bead, although I'm just a beginner at it. I have a bead loom, and I want to learn how to make woven bead things without a loom. I also draw tons, mostly just in pencil (occasionally I can be driven to color something). My biggest "craft" is writing :D I love to write, and I write all the time - fiction (historical or fantasy, mostly), nonfiction, essays, and random fansquee.
