Introducing myself, Lyss! Im a 4th generation American whose family came over to the USA from Graciosa + Corvo Island, Azores, Portugal. The last of my European Portuguese speaking relatives passed when i was very young; I am currently trying to teach myself the language and eventually help my mother to learn as well :-) im always yearning to learn more! If you have any recipes, travel stories, anything i would adore them!
This is a safe space for anybody and everybody 🧚🏻♀️ Theres far too much hate, division, and judgement in the general universe. I live by the term of spreading love to all, and protecting the Earth that we live in ❤️ Im passionate about activism, it all started when i was a child and my dad frequently took me to animal shelters to volunteer and stand up for those who dont have a voice of their own 🐶🐱🐻🐰🦆🐋🐿🦨🐸 i fell in love with connecting to creatures of all kinds; going to audobons to learn about protecting the native owl species, going out through the sand and placing protective cages over turtle eggs so they safely hatch without harm, visiting butterfly sanctuaries, and planting trees locally. My father really impacted my appreciation for all kinds of wild-life beauty as he even taught me about the marine life and bug species! Long story short id love anything with critters on it :D I especially love oppossums, chipmunks, toads, raccoons, etc! I am so thrilled to be in armadillo territory now, i am kind of obsessed with them!
I am currently raising a 3 lb chihuahua pup named Punk; he always wants to be held and he gets chilly easily, he would love any kind of soft fabric or fitting crafty creation! He likes to be wrapped in scarves as well. I cant knit or crochet :-( but i use fabric to make carrier bags he snuggles in when we go out

For any swaps regarding teas, chocolates etc. i decided to add this in! I like trying new things :-) if i ever have another USA partner, i try to include foreign tea from my stash to make it a lil more exciting. and i LOVE honey of all flavors! any time i travel, i make sure to stop at a local shop to grab some of the local honey. My favs I've "collected" are blueberry honey from Maine, raspberry honey from Connecticut, and a jar of honey from Germany, Sweden & Texas from fellow SB members!

You wont find me reading love novels.. Im a sucker for fast-paced thrill, crime, mystery & suspense. Im not bothered by what some would consider too graphic. Lisa Gardner is my favorite author! Id love to hear your book recommendations as im always looking for my next read! Id love to find another author i can obsess over!
