About Me

I love travelling and adding on to the list of countries I've been to.

I love receiving things in the mail and the suspense of opening envelopes when I don't know what's inside. I love coming back to mail that aren't bills and I get disappointed when I don't see any mail from swaps.

I'm definitely not a flaker. Packages can and will take longer to reach you because I'm all the way in Asia. Please be patient and give the packages 3 to 4 weeks to reach you. If you still don't receive your item after a month, please contact me! I will gladly resend.

Favorite Books

In random order:
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (only the 1st book)
Millennium series by Stieg Larsson
For One More Day by Mitch Albom
Sing to the Dawn by Minfong Ho
Charlotte's Web by E. B. White
Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
The Twits by Roald Dahl And The Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini

I also like chick lits that are well written and light hearted. For example, Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella, Austenland by Shannon Hale and Thanks for the Memories by Cecelia Ahern.

Favorite Crafts

I used to like scrapbooking for the pretty patterned papers and embellishments, but have since stopped because I don't have much photos to scrap with.

I like anything that involves intricate details and pretty things. I have always been fascinated with dollhouses, miniatures of objects/food etc. I LOVE Lego. It's technically not a craft, but it still involves making something......right?

I'm actually very hopeless at crafting but am very interested to learn. So far I have tried my hand at making ATCs, inchies, mailart, zentangles, bookmarks and altered matchboxes. I look forward to learning and picking up new crafts! I want to learn how to crochet so that I can make one of those super cute amigurumis. =D I also have my eye on art journals, I shall conquer that someday too.

  • Cats.
  • Owls.
  • Vintage.
  • Tokidoki.
  • Postcards.
  • Note cards.
  • Polka dots.
  • Floral prints.
  • Shabby chic.
  • Gloomy bear.
  • Matryoshka dolls.
  • Cute notebooks and memo pads
  • Cute keychains or cell phone charms.
  • Cute pouches for cosmetics and small items.
  • Touristy magnets, especially the 3D ceramic ones.
  • Cute pens and pencils, especially if they have charms dangling off them.
  • Anything handmade with thought and effort put into it. For example, ATCs, inchies, amigurumi etc
  • Anything cute in the Japanese sense. Think kawaii, but not necessarily of kawaii brands like sanrio, san-x etc.
  • Handwritten notes and letters. If sendng anything to me, I'd love it if you include a small note saying a little something apart from your name and the swap name.

I like:

  • Sentimental Circus
  • Rilakkuma & Korilakkuma
  • Kutsushita Nyanko
  • Piggy Girl.
  • Chou-fleur
  • Kawaii fairytales
  • Paris/French themed kawaii

I basically like anything with the above kawaii characters on them. As I'm still studying, the particularly useful items are:

  • Note books
  • Pencil case
  • Pens and pencils
  • L-shapped file folders.
  • Memo pads, or even loose memo sheets.

All other kawaii brands/characters and items are also fine with me as long as they're real kawaii. I don't like dollar bin kawaii items and seemingly kawaii items of brandless or suspicious origins.

I prefer my postcards written and sent naked with interesting or pretty stamps. I do join swaps that involves multiple postcards to one partner, so its fine to have those sent in envelopes too.

I like any kind of postcard as long as there is something interesting or nice to look at.

Not so crazy about...

  • Kawaii items with photographs of real people, animals or food.
  • Religious items.
  • Food. Singapore's a really hot and humid country, the food will probably be ruined by the time they reach me.
  • Used, bad quality or unwanted items. Not exactly a bin, thank you very much.
  • Swappers who don't follow swap rules. YOU are the one with comprehension problems, don't accuse me of being picky instead.
  • Flakers. Flake on me and I'll stone you to death. >:(

Also, please do not send prohibited items to me. Chewing/bubble gum and obcene materials are not allowed in Singapore. Anything remotely resembling weapons/firearms or money cannot be received either. If really in doubt, you can check here for general import restrictions to Singapore

Flakery Flakes

Flakes - only cool when there is pastry, stickers or snow involved.

Comment: Got your resend of this swap. Cute card Thank youu Don't know if this is the reason or not but the US post office does not allow envies this size to be mailed here - it was 4 x 4. The first one may have been confiscated. here is what is on the Post office site: Minimum Size If a mailpiece is 1/4 inch thick or less, it MUST be rectangular and at least 3-1/2 inches high by 5 inches long.
Response: I'm glad the resend reached you. The first card I sent was a different one, it was 4 times bigger and very glittery. I no longer had any of those cards during the time of the resend so I had to mail the smaller ones I was left with. If the post office confiscated the 1st one, it was probably because they were jealous of how pretty it was. =)
Comment: I love this pretty package. The wrapping is lovely. I haven't opened the gifts yet. The keyring and postcard are lovely. :)

Comment: Thank you for the Christmas card and the postcard of Merlion, Singapore. The fountain is breathtaking. Although we celebrate Christmas with church and a huge meal usually turkey. We celebrate the Polish Christmas Eve. We eat Polish foods made without meat-pierogis, kapusta(cabbage soup with sardines) and cole slaw. We also open Christmas presents. It is hard to eat because all the little ones want to open their presents. They have waited all year for this. It becomes one big mess. Wrapping paper, boxes and yes, their gifts are all thrown together in anticipation of seeing what the next present brings. When the children are put to bed, we then go through everything to make sure nothing is thrown out. I know it sounds terrible but put yourself to be a child with loads of presents to open. It is our turn to relax with GLUG-a Swedish drink. You can read my profile to see what it is. Shirley
