My name is Chu Xian and I'm from Singapore, a sunny island in Southeast Asia. My country is a little red dot near on the world map near the equator. That means sweltering hot temperatures and high humidity all year long. I'm Chinese but have never been to China, and am actually better at speaking English. I turn 27 this year, but am still a child at heart.
I love travelling and adding on to the list of countries I've been to. I work full-time but am studying part-time for a degree so that leaves me with little time and money left to travel. While waiting for the next vacation to happen, I can only content myself with postcards obtained through swaps. Countries I've been to:
I got been bitten by the travel bug after visiting 8 and 9 on the list in 2013, and am trying to save up so that I can quit my job and travel for a few months before, or when I hit 30 (depending on how fast I can save up). Since I probably have to backpack to keep costs down, I'm obsessed with finding super light travel items or multi functional items that folds small. I welcome any suggestions of items that I may find useful.
I love receiving things in the mail and the suspense of opening envelopes when I don't know what's inside. I love coming back to mail that aren't bills and I get disappointed when I don't see any mail from swaps.
I'm definitely not a flaker. Packages can and will take longer to reach you because I'm all the way in Asia. Please be patient and give the packages 3 to 4 weeks to reach you. If you still don't receive your item after a month, please contact me! I will gladly resend.
In random order:
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (only the 1st book)
Millennium series by Stieg Larsson
For One More Day by Mitch Albom
Sing to the Dawn by Minfong Ho
Charlotte's Web by E. B. White
Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
The Twits by Roald Dahl And The Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini
I also like chick lits that are well written and light hearted. For example, Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella, Austenland by Shannon Hale and Thanks for the Memories by Cecelia Ahern.
I used to like scrapbooking for the pretty patterned papers and embellishments, but have since stopped because I don't have much photos to scrap with.
I like anything that involves intricate details and pretty things. I have always been fascinated with dollhouses, miniatures of objects/food etc. I LOVE Lego. It's technically not a craft, but it still involves making something......right?
I'm actually very hopeless at crafting but am very interested to learn. So far I have tried my hand at making ATCs, inchies, mailart, zentangles, bookmarks and altered matchboxes. I look forward to learning and picking up new crafts! I want to learn how to crochet so that I can make one of those super cute amigurumis. =D I also have my eye on art journals, I shall conquer that someday too.
I basically like anything with the above kawaii characters on them. As I'm still studying, the particularly useful items are:
All other kawaii brands/characters and items are also fine with me as long as they're real kawaii. I don't like dollar bin kawaii items and seemingly kawaii items of brandless or suspicious origins.
I prefer my postcards written and sent naked with interesting or pretty stamps. I do join swaps that involves multiple postcards to one partner, so its fine to have those sent in envelopes too.
I like any kind of postcard as long as there is something interesting or nice to look at.
Also, please do not send prohibited items to me. Chewing/bubble gum and obcene materials are not allowed in Singapore. Anything remotely resembling weapons/firearms or money cannot be received either. If really in doubt, you can check here for general import restrictions to Singapore
Flakes - only cool when there is pastry, stickers or snow involved.
