About Me

Hello! My name is Adrian and I live in West Jefferson, North Carolina with my husband, son, two little brown dogs and a parakeet.

What to send me? Surprise me! Send me the card or postcard you haven't found a home for. Anything unusual or odd is great. Most of all I love the great variety of things in the world.

My favorite part of mail swaps is your message! Write me whatever is on your mind, but I especially love book recommendations.

Or tell me about your pets, or what you ate for dinner, or what you enjoy most - sending or receiving mail.

Favorite Books

I read a lot, and love getting recommendations of books to read. I read fiction and non-fiction, and will give anything a chance.

Some favorite authors are: John Irving, Winston Graham, Ann Patchett, Margaret Atwood, Mark Helprin, Neil Gaiman and Cormac McCarthy.

My favorite book from my childhood is A Wrinkle In Time.

I'm currently reading the Mysterious Benedict Society series aloud to my son and husband, and we are on the final book. Previously, we read the Harry Potter books. What should we read next?

Favorite Crafts

Knitting is something I always come back to, and lately I've been knitting scarves and hats for senior citizens in need. I've also been doing a little cross-stitching.

Paper crafts are a current passion, especially junk journals and book making.

Is cooking a craft? Because I do love cooking experiments of all kinds and trying and perfecting new recipes.

Some Things I Like

Accordions, Atoms, Bananas, Cacti, Carnivorous Plants, Diagrams, Electricity, Fungi, Feathers, Ghosts, Hot Dogs, Ink Blots, Kites, Lemons, Libraries, Mailboxes, Nebulas, Ocean Liners, Orange Things, Pies, Peacocks, Rockets, Space, Stamps, Trains, Tanks, Volvos, Volcanoes, Waterfalls, Yo-Yos

Comment: Thank you for the Pizza chunk and note. I am doing okay. Walking the trailer court weather permitting, making some masks for daughter-in-laws co-workers in the restuarant where she works. They just opened for inside dining last week. Our Zoo is opening as open air park thursday to members only then next week to public single use tickets. Love walking there and watching the animals, specially the giraffes, tigers and elephants.
Response: That is awesome that you have a zoo nearby!. I hope you get to enjoy it soon.

Comment: I love this Lantern Press postcard. I lived in NC for 2 years and we used to camp in the Pisgah National Forest region of the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's really great seeing a postcard from there because I miss it!
Response: My husband and I camped for our honeymoon at Mount Pisgah, 20 years ago this month. I lived in Asheville and now live in a different part of NC, but still near the Parkway. Yay!

Comment: I love the card. Thank you. Too bad when the post office stamps Greensboro And the rest on picture side. The stamps were not canceled. That is good. I went to a book show once in London. I bought a book of the world, 1600s.
Response: Yuck! I'm getting a lot of cancellations on the photo side too lately. Usually on the nicest cards!

Comment: Thanks for the postcard. Somebody ripped off all the stamps. Not sure why they did that. Perhaps, a collector? But, it was good to hear from you. Have a lovely day. Happy swapping.
Response: Oh no! That's terrible. I've never known of that happening. What a weird occurrence. I'm glad the card reached you.

Comment: I love the card.I don't know where you are from. Card was not cancelled at your post office. Fine with me. I grew up looking at the Peaks of Otter in Bedford, VA. Blue Ridge Mts. My home. And, my second home, England.
Response: I'm so glad you liked the card. Thanks for the heart. I'm not too far from Peaks of Otter - West Jefferson, Ashe County, North Carolina. I love the mountains and living so near the Parkway. Stay well.

Comment: Your "ugly golf pc" gave me a much-needed smile today! :) Real golf is way too serious for me (and I'm sure I wouldn't be good at it anyway) but I do like mini-golf... always good for a few laughs! Stay safe and be well!

RAK stash clean up So I didnโ€™t read the brief well enough so here another quote that actually meets the brief. Sorry about that.
