About Me

My name is Lisa, I am a 46 year old mother of 2 boys ages 10 and 6 years old. I live in Columbus, Ohio and I recently have become a nurse as a second career but have worked as a cosmetic chemist for the past 15 years, (well maybe third or fourth career).

Over the years I have dabbled in many different arts and crafts. I have made art glass windows, beaded jewelry, embellishment on boxes and furniture, Sewn clothing, costumes including historical Viking and Italian Renaissance and will be working on a Charles Dickens era dress and wild west outfits for the family. mini quilts, crafts and about anything else that I can stick under the presser foot.

I have a collection of old sewing machines Singer, White and Pfaff that are mostly treadle, but some electric. I also happen to own a Consew… although I have never used it.

I also have 2 kilns, and 4 knitting machines (that includes a Passap). I think this qualifies me as either a hoarder or well stocked crafter. But I do not have a lamp to make glass beads, floor loom, a spinning wheel, sheep or alpacas. I probably won’t have honey bees, but will talk Bill into keeping those. I love the honey and they wax would be great for lip balms. Although I would love to have goats, so I can make cheese.

I am a “soaper” and my forte is cold process all vegan soap. I also make lotion, lip balm and soy candles. On a rare occasion I will make other personal care products, perfumes, bath bombs, balms, scrubs and facial creams.

Thrift stores can be fun, although I am not a garage sale fan.... but I love going to auctions. I Especially like estate auctions. I have gotten some awesome sewing stuff at auctions. I also like tea cups, linens, all of the girly house stuff.

Favorite Television and Movies

We finally got a television last Christmas. I am more of an internet junkie. I like the instant gratification of Netflix. I also like being able to watch man episodes in an eveing. So my most recent favorites have been Fringe, Revolution, Orange is the New Black, Mad Men, and Breaking Bad.

I love Movies. I love movies so much more than television. I typically am drawn to science fiction or conspiracy theory movies. I like adventure and guns with explosions. I am not so much in to the chick flicks. I am probably the only woman who didn’t like pretty woman. I also like quirky dark comedies. A few of my favorites are Enemy of the State, The golden Compass, The Hunger games, and The House of Yes

Tea and Me

Black teas are my favorite. Second - herbal teas then green. Then everything else. The only flavor I do not care for is pomegranate.

Comment: I'm sorry but I have to rate you a 1. I never received anything, and since this is a round robin swap I angeled a journal for you in swap #2 though on the condition that you'd do a token re-send. That was early January. In the meanwhile I've tried establishing some sort of conclusion or agreement, especially because you're going through some things, but in the absence of an answer I have no choice but to rate you a 1. It's been 2 months since the send deadline.

Comment: Lisa, if I could give you 2 hearts I would.! The book is beautiful, I love it. I love books you know.I don't know what coptic means, I tried to look it up in dictionary. Guess my dictionary is too old. But it looks like you made the paper with the leaves embedded in it. Lovely. I it very special and I will cherish it. Thank you fellow Ohioian. Marcia
Response: Marcia, Thank you. I read that you are a book person, so I am glad that you liked it. The paper is handmade(not by me) and yes those are real leaves in the paper. Coptic is the chain linked stitch that I used to sew the pages together. I like it since it is very durable but the book will also open flat. Much easier to write in. -Lisa
