I am a sound artist with a passion for knitting, sewing, sound-recording, gardening, music and food.
I recently worked on a radio show along with two other artists about everyday sounds. I am really interested in the everyday soundscape. I'm doing a PhD about the domestic soundscape and am interested at doctorate level in everyday sounds, and how we imaginatively engage with them.
I am fortunate to have a studio/office at home. I host a knitting group in Reading and am a proud member of The Oxford Bluestockings knitting group.
I also host The Knitted Walking Stick Cosy Competition and am interested in the social as well as creative potential of knitting.
I am massively interested in contemporary art and I love to send items that relate to art or art projects; whether my own or friends' artwork, I think the world needs more art. I ALWAYS post my swap items so if you don't receive your swap item from me, please email me to notify me and I will chase it up.
I like: fabrics with a food or bird theme; anything relating to peas, cherries, strawberries, cupcakes cabbages or birds is great in a fabric print.
Buttons.
Polymer clay items and, well, just polymer clay...
Cupcakes. Strawberries. Cute, small food. Everything relating to washing-up, domestic appliances and everyday Mundane Things.
I love 1950s printed material of all kinds... especially household magazines or product advertisements.
Yarn; especially green and with high wool content. I don't like knitting with acrylic that much...
I also love regional information like recipes or images from other places or cultures.
Art project stuff - especially contemporary art with themes to do with identity, feminism, domesticity or with a participatory aspect.
I love stamps, all stamps.
My very favourite colour is green.
I have a weakness for knitting notions, kitchenware, seed-packets, dishcloth-cotton and useful things. I love coffee and all varieties of tea, I collect tea-towels and dishcloths.
I knit dishcloths and am envious that in USA you have loads of brands of colourful dishcloth cotton!
I adore knitted, sewn or crocheted food items.
I have got a stuffed toy monkey who is very naughty and I collect banana-themed items on his behalf.
I also like rubber stamps and stationary of all kinds.
Music: I am big on sound and music generally and love home-made music best of all. I am a fan of lo-fi and favour artists whose songs stand up to zero production. I am a fan of massive talent rather than massive budget and tend to listen to a lot of contemporary folk, stuff my friends have made and weird old accordion records. I love experimental art/sound stuff also, and enjoy hand-made releases by people just trying to do something interesting with sound. I also love a good song - something with high human interest level. Very funny musicians also feature a lot on my compilation CDs and I love to make compilations featuring a lot of little gems and eccentric selections; something you can sit down with a cup of tea and really, really LISTEN to... there is some of my very old music (2004!) on my myspace; more recent stuff I made features on The Missability Radio Show which was a major project I did last year for my MA.
Postcards: I collect postcards and am an avid postcrossing user. I really like to receive postcards which feature something important/interesting to the sender, with an explanation on the back of why the postcard is interesting to them. This can be anything at all, but I like it to be meaningful to the sender. I also prefer for postcards to be sent 'naked' rather than in an envelope as I love all the postal markings and the things a journey does to a postcard! I tend to draw on postcards I send and I love drawings. Felt tip pens are seriously underrated in my opinion!
I don't like: thrash metal music, generic pop music, Britney Spears, cute animal stuff, glitter, makeup, synthetic fibres and fabrics, fairies or other cute stuff and I really don't like anything pearlescent. I also have a horror of pastel-shades and I don't wear jewelery.
And for some reason I don't understand, I cannot bear the colour purple.
I really like to get detailed information on people I'm swapping with, so I can create something that is to the taste of my swap partner!

Thank you very much for the feminist ATC. Very interesting postcard with it too. I had no idea the numbers were that bad.
