my name is irene, but just about everyone who knows me calls me reenie. (i recently changed my name since my divorce and am now back to my maiden name.)
i'm returning to swapbot after about five years away. there have been a lot of changes in my life and i feel that going back to doing the things i enjoy is good for me right now.
i was born in los angeles, california on december 24th to my parents, who divorced 18 months later. my mom was in the us navy for 12 years and we moved around a lot. i've lived all over the usa but am settled in the pacific northwest, specifically, washington.
i was married to a navy submariner for 16 years. we divorced in june 2015. i am still struggling with my current situation and while i still feel poorly and often sad and angry about it, i am trying to stay positive.
currently it's just me and my cat, baer. he's the love of my life, well, the cat of my life. baer is a sleek black kitty with gold and green eyes. he was adopted from my local animal shelter in 2010 when he was just a wee baby. he's incredibly affectionate, intelligent, and stubborn. he loves heavily scented catnip toys (the more catnip the better!), crunchy cat treats in just about every flavor, although tuna is his favorite, and just about any flavor of canned food except turkey. he's my silky kitty and i adore him.
i adore snail mail, pen palling, reading, swapping (obviously), gardening, although I don’t have a yard of my own, photography, and journaling.
things i love: my mom. my friends, local and far away. disney. winter nights. disneyland. faeries. the magickal and mystical. hello kitty. bubble baths. bath & body works. christmas. manatees. greeting cards. twizzlers. cloudy, thunder-stormy days. fruit punch. the beach. hello kitty. amy brown's artwork. caramel apple lollies. scented candles. glitter pens. stationery. snail mail. lilacs. collecting picture frames. barbie. butterflies. gold things. stila. mac. bonne bell. good luck bear. hydrangeas. candy-cane tootsie pops. starbucks. vanilla milkshakes. flip-flops. stickers.. music. perfume. stationary. makeup
notice: if you fail to include a note or any swap information with your swap, i will not hunt through all of my swaps to try and match a swap with a name. if you do not include your information, i will not be rating you. i'm sorry, but i just don't have that kind of time.
swap preferences: if end up being my swap partner, here are some things you can take into consideration when sending. anyone who sends me packages of the gevalia cappuccino specials toblerone, anything with daim in it or cadbury jelly popping candy shells candy bars will forever be my bestest friend!
i would prefer to not receive any handmade items unless it's specifically related to my profile.
stationery: i like any and all sorts of notecards, postcards, and greeting cards.
beverages: i love hot drinks, especially flavored hot chocolate, and unique or exotic teas. please do not send any dietary drink mixes.
candy/sweets: i despise white chocolate, so please do not send it.
miscellaneous: just a handful of random things i'm always happy to receive.
please do not send the following:
everything else: i’m not especially picky but i do detest anything that's obviously cheap. i love trying new recipes so please don’t hesitate to send me printed versions of your favorites. mix cd’s are also welcome although i know we're not supposed to send them.
if you still have questions, please don't hesitate to ask me.
i am an avid reader of just about everything but historical fiction, specifically from the tudor- and elizabethan-eras, is often what i read most. i also enjoy reading mystery, fantasy, and some science-fiction. some favorite authors include anne rice, robin maxwell, philippa gregory, margaret george, juliet blackwell, amy tan, anne mccaffrey, mercedes lackey, marion zimmer-bradley, linda lay schuler, alison weir, octavia butler, sue harrison, jean m. auel, wally lamb, isaac marion, jodi picoult, and half a dozen others.
i loathe romance novels so please don't send them.
i am a keen collector of postcards. while i'm happy with most kinds of posties, i do have a few types that i would give you a heart for sending including:
please, nothing cheap or tacky. please send me a postcard you would like to have in your collection.
i suppose you're no one on swapbot until you've been flaked on. and more than once. flakes seem to run especially rampant in the kawaii community, and a lot of my flaked swaps involve kawaii.
