About Me

Hello! I'm a 34-year-old lady and I live in beautiful Seattle, Washington. I have a pet rabbit and use the word "awesome" entirely too much.

I'm not on Swap-bot much these days since I'm in school, but rest assured I'm still checking messages and diligently swapping/rating when I do sign up for the odd swap.

Here are a few of my interests:

  • I'm a geek, I love educational stuff. Lists, graphs, history, science, anything that teaches me something new!
  • I love books and libraries. Have you read any good books lately?
  • I love rabbits, foxes, sharks, platypuses, and octopuses.
  • I'm a closet goth (shhh, don't tell!). Edward Gorey, Edgar Allan Poe, Day of the Dead, etc. The sun is not my friend.
  • I love roadside attractions. Extra kitsch = extra awesome. I will drive hours out of my way to see something billed as "The World's Largest" anything!
  • I love watching roller derby and stickin' it to The Man.
  • I love astronomy and constellations.
  • I love good luck charms (except maybe rabbits' feet--I like those still attached to the rabbit!). What do you consider to be your good luck charm?
  • I love cryptozoology (especially the jackalope -- if you send me a jackalope postcard, I will send you a thank you card and pretty much be your BFF).
  • I volunteer at Seattle's zine library. I'd love to see your zine, even (or especially) if you think it's not very good.
  • I love anything strange or unique. I won't be offended by anything, I promise.

Mostly, I'm just super excited to get mail, and will be pleased with anything. 'Cause I'm easy ... like Sunday morning.

Some More About Me

  • If I could have dinner with one person, living or dead, I would choose the living one.
  • The best video of all time? Sabotage by the Beastie Boys. Its magnificence is undeniable.
  • My favorite number is 42.

There. It's like you've known me forever, right?

Favorite Crafts

I learned how to knit a few years ago, I'm slow as molasses, though. Pretty much I can knit anything as long as it's a rectangle.

I appreciate all crafty people and the DIY aesthetic, but don't have much creative ability of my own. Mad props to all of you who do!!

Favorite Television

Mystery Science Theater 3000.

MST3K

Favorite Movies

  • Monty Python & the Holy Grail (yes, I'm that person).
  • Ghost World.
  • Shaun of the Dead.
  • Dr. Strangelove.

My favorite genre is documentary.

Favorite Books

ALL OF THEM.

No, wait, that's not right. Well, here's a few that come to mind:

  • Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell / by Susanna Clarke.
  • A Wrinkle in Time / by Madeleine L'Engle.
  • We Have Always Lived in the Castle / by Shirley Jackson.
  • From Hell / by Alan Moore.
  • Good Omens / by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.
  • Doomsday Book / by Connie Willis.
  • The Little Prince / by Antoine de Saint Exupéry.

Favorite genres: literature, graphic novels, some science fiction, a lot of nonfiction (science, history, and sociology). I'm a book snob--I'm not proud, but I'll admit it.

I love love love my card! I've add it to my favorite cards album (which is a tiny folio I carry around to show people (yep, i'm nerdy.) I'm so grateful. You're the best! MK

Ps. I found a skunk skull at the complementary this weekend...now to go and bleach the bones! woot!

I am listening to Happy Birthday by New Kid's On the Block in honor of you!!!! Also because I still like listening to them and am beyond any form of help.

filmstarcrazy on May 1, 2011:

I visited Seattle 5 years ago briefly--saw Pike Place Market and the waterfront and ate AMAZING fish'n'chips there! I want to see it again, though, and pore over it more thoroughly. I'd love a tour guide when I get the chance! Thank you for the offer!

Your review of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell makes me more eager to read it! I'll have to pick it up soon! I know how you feel about Powell's and Voodoo Doughnut--the whole city is pretty glorious. I love walking by the Willamette and seeing all the little shops that Portland has to offer. I'm glad that I moved here, but if I lived in Seattle, I'd likely be happy, too.

I came to see your profile after you rated me for the Jackalope PC swap! My friend had me read We Have Always Lived In The Castle last year and I enjoyed it! Forgot to list that one on my own profile. Props for Good Omens. Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell is one I've meant to read for ages now but keep missing somehow. BOOKS! I like them. Do you ever venture down to Portland & to Powell's City of Books? I want every book-lover I know to see it--I've spent more time there since I moved here than anywhere else except my apartment, I think!

rhinoluvr on Apr 1, 2011:

YAY! May your good mail karma quadruple, if that's possible. I love this rhino ad card. Sometimes I find other companies who use rhinos for their mascot, because they're strong I guess, like a propane gas place, a coffee co., and there's also some type of nasal medicine I think who use rhinos. They're a fun thing to collect through paper products because they're rare. I know those who collect pigs & frogs & turtles must get overrun 'cuz they're so common. Anyway, Have a good weekend & thanks again! :)

You give good postcard.

rhinoluvr on Feb 11, 2011:

Wow, thank you SO very much for the reply postcard!! - That RHINO is so cool, and one of a kind, so of course I had never seen it before. I really appreciate it, and I know you will have the best mail-karma for sending it on to me. Take care & Happy Valentine's Day! ~Lisa

maryhassound on Dec 28, 2010:

HAHA. Dude, it IS now called the Willis Tower, but none of the Chicago-natives call it that now. And also, even some of the gift items in the gift shop still say Sears Tower still. :) I totally understand what you mean though. I have little dilemmas like that quite often. :)
