Fair warning: Since I've been doing this, I notice that I am not at all good about remembering to check in when I send stuff. I guess it's too much postcrossing! I'm working on getting better at it, but I apologize in advance for any confusion while I figure this out.
I'm a sci-fi buff from way back. I remember Starlost and Space 1999 and a truly horrible show called Quark from the 70's. That would be prior to the original Battlestar Galactica or Buck Rogers. I saw original Star Wars and Close Encounters in the movie theater as first-runs, both with my dad. These days I like Dr Who best. I like his attitude, that human beings are "brilliant!" and that guns are bad. He wins everything with brains and his sonic screwdriver. How cool is that?
I attend sci-fi and anime conventions and renaissance fairs and pretty much anything that's an excuse for people to dress up. I like steampunk and diesel punk, and I have an aesthetic that I call post-apocalyptic dystopia (think Mad Max). I'm an ex-punk rocker and if I was young enough, I'd be goth, or at least gothic lolita. And I must admit, it's kind of a guilty pleasure, but I LOVE kawaii lately! I'm really too old for it and yet . . . lol
I own 2 cats who I spoil horribly. I've been tentatively involved in mail art since the 80's. I just completed some zines for the first time.a I'm pretty adventurous which scares a lot of people and I like cities.
I am a Scorpio and a Dragon, depending on which astrology you use. I'm interested in crystals, chakras, cognitive science, astrology, herbalism, knitting and crocheting, assemblage, finance, alchemy, anime, travel, japanese culture, costuming, heraldry, other cultures, lots of stuff. I own cats but I don't collect cat-themed items; with 2 exceptions: I like Hello Kitty esp. Chococat, and I like those vintage Halloween black cats that somehow look insane. I collect rabbits, dragons, lions, owls and seahorses. And yarn! but that's common for knitters. Stones talk to me sometimes.
