I absolutely love Valentines Day, decorated envelopes, farmer's markets, eating local, trying to live with a small carbon footprint, being no-impact and zero garbage, Hello Kitty, and anything sweet and cutsie.

I am the lucky mom of two great kids: 22 and 10. I am married to the best man in the world and I went to London and France in July for the first time in my life! It was amazing :) I eat local as much as I can, I grow vegetables and fruit like crazy in my backyard, I grow extra for the food bank and am in the "plant an extra row for the hungry" program. I read the book 12x12 and am enthralled by the idea of living in a small cottage and being as self sufficient as a girl with an iphone and lap top can be! I know I am a "gadget sinner" but I am striving! lol

My goal this year is to "chill" so I have made it a nightly ritual to have a "calming cup of decaf tea" and write in a grateful journal and be grateful for one thing and ask God (not sure I believe in God but I am trying to in order to calm my frazzled-anxious self!) for something for someone else in the world. I strive to be "zero garbage" and have really made amazing progress! I am not buying anything new. I have reduced our garbage for a family of 4 to one bag a week! I have not used a bag for groceries or farmer's market purchases all year, I have called and gotten off mailing lists so our junk mail is really low. Of course, I love letters from swap bot and used a lot of disposable diapers over the years with my kids but I am trying to pay it back! :)
