Texas girl, born and raised. I am a photographer currently attending college for women's and gender studies. Ultimately I'd like to make photographs with a purpose - something that will change our world for the better. Working on becoming fluent in Arabic and graduating spring of 2009, so I'm busy as a bee. I recently started an internship where I teach art and 6th grade English / language arts at an all-girls' school. I love it! Those girls amaze me and make me laugh every day.

~ > > > the colors green, teal/aqua, and orange / soft, muted colors like grey and light blue / japanese woodblock prints / collages / photographs / handmade crafts / old or vintage maps / vintage-y things / anything dark, funky, and weird / drawings / paintings / pens / mermaids / tea (blacks, reds, chai - no herbals or green) / chocolate / rare books / old cameras / sugar skulls / dia de los muertos / The Nightmare Before Christmas / polka dots / patterned papers / buttons / Eddie Izzard! / pins / match boxes / tiny things / The Wizard of Oz / some kawaii (mamegoma, food with faces, hannari tofu, tiny cafe, hedgehogs, birds, pandas, and other japanese cute) / sakura gel pens / micron pens / rubber and acrylic stamps / polaroids / traditional style tattoos (think sailor style) / peacocks / Frida Kahlo / robots / origami and origami paper / tiny cameras or anything with cameras on it / vegetarian recipes / sew-on and iron-on patches < < < ~

If you can find Tim Tams (I think they are Australian) I'll be your best friend until the end of time. I've recently learned that Penguins (UK) are just as amazing. I would gladly welcome any Penguins you happen to send along...

I'd love to receive anything (seriously!), especially if it was hand made or unique to your area. I admire creativity and effort. Don't be afraid that you will offend! Go crazy and have fun!

I'm not really into dolls, fragrances, or cartoons. Heck, I don't really watch TV that much. Not a big fan of the color brown. No coffee, either.

No allergies here, but be advised that things I send will come from a home with both cats and a dog. I promise not to let them lick your things before I send them. :)

GoodReads reading list

What a question to ask a former librarian....

The Awakening (Chopin), Their Eyes Were Watching God (Hurston), Harry Potter!, The House on Mango Street (Cisneros)

How about favorite authors?

David Sedaris, David Rakoff, Barbara Kingsolver, JD Salinger, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Ken Kesey

I love feminist writers and non-fiction. Not that into romance, sci-fi, or 'chick lit.'

stamping, crocheting, scrapbooking, cardmaking, photography

I've also broken pretty much every sewing machine I've ever touched.

Comment: :( rating "1's" is no fun, nor is not receiving a swap (especially the ones of "higher value"). I do appreciate and acknowledge that this swapper did contact me a couple of days after the swap ended to let me know she would be running late , but, the last I heard (Aug-15), she would be sending it the following week. Now, it's a month after the send by date, and it's still not even been sent. I will definitely be glad to change this rating once I've received the swap, but for now, in the interest of representing the swap experience fairly to the rest of the s-b community, the 1 stands. **UPDATE** though the swap was late, the items received were thoughtful and well-made, and I enjoy all of them. Thank you for honoring this swap.
Response: Turns out we have to agree to disagree, however cliche it may seem.

Comment: so worth the wait! It took me a few to realize that the brooms were pencils and I just love my Ron shrine :-P. The Whomping Willow is on my wall and I'll be posting it's picture over the weekend on my flickr. Thank you!
Response: I figured they could be brooms or wands - but either way they were pretty sweet. :) Glad you liked everything.

Thinking of your Mom and you. I've been searching for Tim Tams several months now. I went to the website, after I could not find them at World Market. Well they do carry them there. In the US they are sold as ARNOTT'S at World Market. I purchased the caramel, they are delis. If you can't find them in Texas let me know I will be happy to send ya some.
