I am married and have one son who is a second year at UCLA. I have been an attorney for 25+ years but maintain my sanity by indulging in multimedia arts. I love to knit, rubberstamp, make ATC's and bead.
Last year I started "The Power of Pink Project." Friends, friends of friends, customers at the stamp store where I moonlight, and many others that I didn't know contributed knitted and crocheted pink scarves that were donated to our local hospital to be given to women who were being treated for breast cancer. We donated over 430 scarves. 2007 is the second year of the project. Our goal is 1000 scarves so that we can give to more than one hospital. The only requirements is that the scarf include the color pink and that it be in my hands by the end of the second week of October. PM for the address. I send a little thank you gift to all of the participants. Those who wish, can attend the special party that we will be having to celebrate the success of the project. It will be Sunday, October 21st in Claremont, CA.
I found out firsthand how valuable this showing of support can be. The week that we finished the project last year I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a challenging journey but I knew the support in the community for those who are waging this battle. I had an opportunity to see women who were receiving chemo and radiation treatments wearing their scarves each time that they arrived. I got to be there at the party when the patients who joined us at last year's party looked at me in amazement and said "I can pick which ever one I want?!" I know that there are many generous people in the swap-bot community and I would love to have you join me in making this year's project a success.
Jazz, 70's funk, salsa, R&B, old Motown, reggae, "Wicked" soundtrack, Patsy Cline, Jordin Sparks, pretty much anything that I can dance to.
An Affair to Remember, Godfather I & II, The Wizard of Oz, Mildred Pierce, anything with Marilyn Monroe, Gregory Peck, and Cary Grant...and many more. I love old movies and use NetFlix to have my personal film fests.
I have to confess that this season I became an American Idol addict...I watch lots of soccer, mostly English Premier League. Without a Trace, Grey's Anatomy. I watch the CSI shows when I'm available: they are SO SO SO unrealistic and they cause lots of problems for prosecutors because our jurors think that they are reality and expect that all of the "tests" that Horatio and friends do is what the cops in their community should be doing.
knitting, rubberstamping, beading, and making ATC's
Purple, blue, teal, emerald
I read mysteries (My son is named Roderick after Roderick Allyn, the protagonist of Ngaio Marsh who was a contemporary of Dorothy Sayers and Agatha Christie.), biographies, the Harry Potter series, the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series, and whatever else catches my fancy in the bookstore or on Amazon. I can never get out of a bookstore without buying at least one book!
