Update as of 9/11/15: I am currently working on resolving all of my outstanding swaps. I apologize for leaving so many people hanging as I have been dealing with ongoing health issues.
Note as of March 8, 2015: I am dealing with some ongoing health issues. I realize I have fallen behind sending out some of my recent swaps. I am working on getting everything out, and then will be seriously cutting back on my swapping until I get my health issues sorted out. I'm sorry for my swap partners this has affected!
[Note: Please let me know if there are any issues with a swap you receive from me (postage due, etc.). I am always willing to work with you to resolve an issue! I use a postage scale to weigh all my swaps at home, but please let me know if I've made a mistake!]
Hello! My name's Melissa. I'm 29 and I live in Brooklyn (NYC). I'm mildly crafty, but I probably spend too much time on Pinterest admiring the work of others and making lists of things I'd like to do. :)
I love knitting (mainly socks and scarves/shawls). I use a personal-sized Filofax as my daily planner/journal. I also use a Hobonichi A6 and a Midori Traveler's Notebook for journaling, as well as an A5 Kikki.k planner, which I use to keep track of my various crafting adventures. :) I love decorating all of them with stickers, washi tape, and other cute stuff I can find.
I also love reading, yoga, and watching movies. I've spent a lot of time traveling and studying abroad in the past, and I love receiving things with other languages on them or from places outside the US. Spain and Italy are both very close to my heart, so items from those places would make me especially happy. :)
I'm looking for penpals if anyone is interested in exchanging letters on a regular basis. I love exchanging handwritten letters, so it usually works out best if we have some things in common!
Here are some of the basics about me:
knitting, journaling, sending/receiving snail mail, decorating my planners (personal size and A5), reading, watching movies, learning languages, decorating whatever I can find with washi tape. I may be almost 30 but I love kawaii stuff.
Favorite music: Arcade Fire, Johnny Flynn, Noah and the Whale, Laura Marling, Death Cab for Cutie, the Beatles, Radiohead, Immaculate Machine, Florence + the Machine
If you are just sending a postcard, I prefer to receive it naked, as postcards were meant to be sent! :)
- postcards from museums (especially art museums) featuring a piece at that museum. I love Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Frida Kahlo, Goya, Rodin, Degas
- old buildings
- candid shots of normal people
- cities other than New York
- vintage ads
- natural landscapes
- old Catholic churches
- old buildings of any sort
TV: Sherlock (the BBC series), Buffy, Firefly, X-Files, Bones, Fringe, Downton Abbey, the Daily Show, the Colbert Report Music: Arcade Fire, the Beatles, Johny Flynn, Laura Marling, Noah and the Whale
I'm pretty easy to please, but I especially love quirky/unique items. I love to be surprised!
yellow, the brighter the better! I also love pink, teal, and mint green. Super saturated colors make me happy, though I also have a strange fondness for grey.
I have Narcolepsy with Cataplexy, so I am constantly tired in a way that's difficult for those without a chronic illness to fully understand. I would love to receive a cute eye mask and relaxing lavender scented items to help get me to sleep. I enjoy bath products, but I have sensitive skin, so it's best to stick to unscented or lightly scented items. I overheat easily, so I put my hair up a lot. Cute bobby pins and hair ties are always appreciated.
*Bugs! Please don't sent me anything with insects or spiders on it unless they are cutesy unrealistic bumblebees! :) *peanut butter *lotus flowers *religious items/quotes *bacon (random, I know, but it seems like everyone loves bacon these days, and I am not a meaty person! :P)
candy not on my wish list (sorry, I'm picky!), scented face lotion/cleansers, tea, items with religious themes other than those mentioned in my likes
