Hi all! I just signed up several days ago. My daughter has been in this group for the past month. She has been having alot of fun and meeting nice people, she thought that I would enjoy it too, and suggested I give it a try. We both were in a small swap group though while we were living in California. We had such fun and still keep in touch with a few of the women we swapped with. I am a retired Police/Fire/EMD/911 dispatcher. I retired after 31 1/2 yrs of service. I had an awsome career. Sometimes I really miss it. I wish I could say I was 10 yrs old when I started :) However, I was in my early 20's. I am a proud grandmother of 3. Two grandsons ages 8 and 6, and a 3 yr old granddaughter. They are the lights of my life - my daughter and son-in-law did a great job! . A year ago I moved from California to the state of Washington with my daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. I just love it up here, but do miss my friends and family in CA. I plan to visit them as much as I can and hope they will come up here and visit me. Also, I want to make friends up here. I just joined the Faternal Order of Eagles in this area which should give me a good start in making friends. I so enjoy playing card games with friends, bingo, going to the casino once in awhile, going out to lunch, or dinner, shopping and just having fun. I love to read and being with my grandchildren. I don't think I'm hard to please and am looking forward to swapping and meeting nice, fun people in here. My thoughts about swapping: If I took the time to sign up and fill out a profile, then I will take the time and make the effort to be a good swap partner. I will send nice things. Things I would like to receive. I will check the profiles and gear my swap towards what they like. I will send my items on time. I will be grateful for what I receive in return and will immediately give my partner a rating. If there ever comes a time that I can't do any of the above, it will be time for me to leave. I hope others feel the same as I do. Also, I need to add that me, my grandchildren and son-in-law are allergic to cigarette smoke - please NO items that have that smell to them. I wouldn't be able to keep them. Thanks in advance for that.
I enoy all kinds of music - depends on the mood I'm in. I love Elvis, rock and roll, oldies, country, High Kings, soft rock, salsa, old standards, big band - like I said, what ever I'm in the mood for.
I LOVE to read and do whenever I get the chance. I love it raining or snowing outside and sitting by the fire reading a good book. My favorites are: Katie MacAlister- Asling Grey/Silver Dragons Series Janet Evanovich- Stephanie Plum series Jim Butcher- The Dresden Files Ann B. Ross - Miss Julia series Shanna Swendon- Katie Chandler series Candice Havens- Charmed series Claudia Bishop- Hemlock Falls mysteries Isis Crawford-Catered mysteries Stuart Woods, James Patterson, Suzanne Ledbetter, Linda Wisdom, Madelyn Alt, Livia J. Washburn, Jerrilyn Farmer, Fannie Flagg. I would highly recommend any of those authors to anyone who enjoys reading a good book. Most of them are light, funny and an easy read. Also, I am ALWAYS looking for new authors to try.
I enjoy romantic comedies the most. I like to watch whatever looks good. However, I don't like gory movies = the blood and guts type = yuck! I am a big fan of older movies, give me a good old black and white mystery or comedy and I'm a happy puppy! My very favorite movie of all time is "Charades" with Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. They are my all time favorite actors. I enjoy any Cary Grant movie-yumm! Also, the old Charlie Chan, or Sherlock Holmes (the ones with Bazial Rathbone and Nigel Bruce).
I like to watch the Bravo Channel - Top Chef, Project Runway, TLC-What not to Wear. The Food Channel- I'm a Rachel Ray and Paula Dean Fan. I like Hell's Kitchen, all the Law and Orders, The Office, and most of all Monk. I like the reruns of: Golden Girls, Frasier, Everyone Loves Raymond and Seinfeld. I'm looking forward to some of the new shows coming on the air. I do have to admit though, I do watch alot of cartoons with my grandchildren = Disney, Noggin and Sprout are my favorites.
My very favorite is sewing - I LOVE to sew. I like to knit, and crochet. I am learning beading and cardmaking. I want to learn to tole paint. I am always looking for a new craft to try. I have such a talented daughter and she is always inspiring me to do something creative!
I love: God, my family, friends, the men and women of the armed forces who risk their lives so we all can live in a free country. God bless them and their families. I like: Homemade/Handmade items!
All colors, except neon colors. My very favorite color is purple. I like blues and reds and sage green also.
I really like fairies and angles
Flowers - esp Calla Lilies, magnolias, poppies, roses, and camillias. There's not many I don't like - whose names I can't think of right now.
Fall & Spring seasons. Everything about each.
Owls, moon and stars. I always like to say I'm going to sit outside at night and get a moon tan.
Popcorn- I like to pop my own- I call it "real" popcorn. Got my grandchild perferring fresh popped corn. However, microwave popcorn will do in a pinch. I like to try new and different/ gourmet kinds.
Glitter- while growing up, my parents were active in the Eagles. My dad always headed the decoration committee for dances and special events and gilitter was used alot. So I guess it is inherited.
All Holidays, esp Christmas, Halloween and 4th of July. I love to decorate for all of them, even if just putting out a few things for the lesser celebrated ones.
Beads - love all kinds (except plastic) and colors! But, I do have to admit that I have a passion for purple!
Coffee and tea. I mainly drink coffee, (ground flavored is my fav) but I do like a good pot of tea once and a while. Soothes the soul.
Puzzles and Games- I enjoy putting puzzles together. I usually start my mornings doing several daily puzzles on line at pogo.com- gets the old brain cells going. The only puzzle I don't care for is sudko.
Pens/Gel Pens - all colors and types. I love unusal pens - can be any color ink.
Recipes - I like to exchange and collect recipes and recipe books. Always looking for a new recipe to try.
Book Markers/Post Cards/Recipe Cards.- All types and colors, unusal.
Post Cards/Mugs- Anything from my partners state, city. I enjoy things from other countries or states.
Fabric - just love sewing, so material is always good.
Ribbons and buttons - love all kinds. Anything unsual- all colors!
Embellishments -all kinds flowers, jewels, any thing unusual- love it all.
Jewelry - I love all jewelry. Bracelets, rings, necklaces= esp long necklaces. I like homemade jewelery.
Candy and treats: Almond Roca is my favoirte! I also like peanut m&m's, Look Bars, Retro 50's type candy I grew up on like bit o honey's, henry bars and abba zabbas. Any CHOCOLATE is great! I'd love to try candy from other places, Europe especially :) I like just about everything but black licorice. Can't stand the flavor.
I'm sure I have forgotten something - but I can always add more if I think of anything else. I hope this is helpful to anyone swapping with me If you have any questions feel free to pm me
Cig smoke!!!! I can't express that enough. Liars and dishonest people. Just be honest with me. I may not like or agree with what you have to say, BUT I will have respect for you for being honest with me. Everyone has a right to have their own opinion - no matter who does or doesn't agree with them.

Thank you for the really nice Halloween postcard and the very kind words that were written on it. It is always a great treat to be in swaps with you and hopefully being your partner as well. As you can probably tell this is one of my favorite times of the year, and our garage is already decorated with a Halloween scene using duck tape. But I must say my favorite Holiday will always be Christmas :)
