I've been swapping on Swap-bot since Spring 2007.
I am an art librarian who is interested in vegetarianism and veganism, environmental responsibility, and feminism.
The two main things I collect are vintage paint-by-numbers and miniature, plastic replicas of the Virgin Mary. I am unfortunately not able to explain these obsessions, and certainly don't expect any of my swap partners to seek things out for this theme. It's just an odd obsession!
Favorite Books Girl with a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier, Under the Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes, The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, The Griffin and Sabine series by Nick Bantock, The Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde, The Passion by Jeanette Winterson, The Red Tent by Anita Diamant, The Earth Children series by Jean Auel, David Sedaris, Jane Eyre, The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich's
Favorite Movies Strictly Ballroom, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, But Im a Cheerleader, Monsoon Wedding, Amelie, A Room with a View, The Forsyte Saga, Pride and Prejudice, Eat Drink Man Woman, The Life Acquatic with Steve Zissou, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Mansfield Park, Water, Parineeta, Jane Eyre (the 2007 version).
Favorite Television Stuff that keeps me from getting too serious - the OC, Grey's Anatomy, That 70s Show, Law and Order, The Office (American version). I don't have cable (or a VCR), so I don't watch anything that's not on DVD!!
I love to scrapbook, and I primarily make 12x12 inch albums. I appreciate any leftover patterned papers or embellishments, like brads, stickers, die-cuts, etc. Different ribbons and fibers are also appreciated!
I am a knitter of eight years. I am on ravelry.com under the same username.
A bit about my style: I like eclectic papers that have a 'vintage' look even if they are brand spanking new. In general, anything that looks exotic, foreign, etc. is wonderful! Nick Bantock (of the Griffin and Sabine series) is my artistic hero. Images that are Depression era are especially of interest to me. Otherwise, I also like Victorian, 1930s, 40s, and 50s, as well as images/papers that are European in flavor. Think decaying grandeur, as in Venice or New Orleans. Marbled, handmade and hand-decorated papers are especial favorites!
I also collage once in a while, and I love cool ephemera - ticket stubs, old-fashioned receipts, pins, game pieces, charms, pages of text in different languages, labels, cigar bands, bottle caps, sheet music, canceled checks, receipts, old lace and trim, and more.
I prefer muted over primary colors. Anything natural, but I wouldn't call myself a "nature-lover" especially.
I very much love German scrap and Dresden trim.
Please don't send chocolate (unless it is Dec--March), as it probably won't make it to my house without melting.
I prefer coffee over tea - specifically espresso. Don't worry about sending tea, as I can swap it along to my momma.
I am a vegetarian of 13 years; I do eat dairy products, and am quite the cheese-o-holic. I love casseroles, which I believe I was deprived of as a child.
Things I would rather not receive in a swap, unless they are specifically requested:
