I am a first time Grandma:) His name is Dalten. He's a year old. I am married to a wonderful man named David, I have a daughter, Amber 27, 2 furry felines. I live in So Calif. 35 miles north of L.A.
I'm a self-taught (still learning) artist, trying out many mediums. So far I'm attracted to collage/mixed-media. I love trying out new techniques. I have a lot of the specialty mediums to play with.
8 years ago I was in a serious car accident that injured my back. That gave me the time to explore my creative side. Before that I sold wine and spirits to restaurant and bars. I loved it, there was a lot of freedom and creativity in the promotional aspects of the job. Also I loved selling wine so romantic! I'm still infatuated with it.
I have a strong relationship with Jesus, and have taught Sunday school for 16 years on and off. It's difficult now with my back injury.(makes me unreliable) My husband David is a favorite teacher at church. Christmas is my favorite holiday.
My favorite colors are purples or reds. I love almost all colors, I find myself attracted to different colors at different times. I don't like bright colors, except in small doses. especially bright pink. Bright red is my exception! Some pastels are nice, but I usually don't gravitate to them. I love the tinted whites though. My favorite metal is copper as well as rose colored gold, I like using metallics in my work. I like trying out different palettes ie. peach, red, cream. Earthy reds yellows and blues. Different shades of white and tan. I'm always looking for any unusual palettes.( Any suggestions would be appreciated!)
I'm trying to stay away from the traditinal baby boy stuff for his scrapbook.( I haven't scrapped in ages:) I bought a watercolor book to make a baby book for him. I am looking for boy/baby vintage stuff for his book.
I love oriental themes, fantasy/medieval, dragons, fairies, mermaids, anything fantastical. I love the possiblilities of that time period.(not dark arts or Harry P., (I haven't read any of the books.) full moons, jesters, Pierrot, & mimes, felines, travel, time, funny, unusual, faces, eyes, vintage, eclectic or thought provoking themes, quotes.(Probably due to a too much time on my hands:) I've been attracted to harliquin patterns lately.
I really don't like cutesy. Hello Kitty, Disney, I don't have any small kids around yet, so I don't need kid/craft stuff, if possible. (ie. plastic beads, small toys, pipe cleaners, neon items, etc.) I don't celebrate halloween. I don't like anything about snow or winter. I don't like hot pink, neon colors, overwhelmingly bright colors, except in small doses.
I love lemongrass scent. Also most floral scents, honeysuckle, jasmine lavender, gardenia. I'm allergic to rose scents. I don't like fruit and veggie scents. I'm allergic to strong chemical scents.
I've been collecting foreign ephemera.(If any one wants to do a straight trade) I love traveling, even if only in my imagination:) Also have started collecting anything related to wine, grapes, wine country. except corks I have a ton!
I love swapping and getting to know people all over the world. I really love different customs!!
If you don't receive something, or have any problems, please contact me and I'll send a replacement, or work things out with you. Also it's not neccessary to send extra stuff for a heart, I try to base my ratings on quality and attention to my profile. If the something extra is based on my profile I will probably heart. I just don't want anyone to feel it's expected. I rate as soon as I get your package, it doesn't leave my computer's side until it's done. So if I haven't rated you, I haven't received it yet.
I love music and listen to it most of the day. I have a weird quirk that I can't turn on the T.V. until 5:00pm. I guess it's being "retired". The music, Blues,(Muddy Waters, B.B. king, etc.) Jazz,(Pat Metheny, Miles Davis etc.) Classical,(Franz Shubert, Mozart, Chopin, etc.) Classic hard rock, 70's and 80's mostly. (Steppenwolf, Led Zepplin, Cream, Def Lepard, Billy Squier, to name a few.) I'm not that fond of today's rock, or pop. I don't listen to country music. I seem to hear the music first, then the lyrics. (The cause of quite a few embarrassing moments!)
Gone with the wind, Life is beautiful, Planet of the apes, Highlander, I'm sure there are more, but I can't seem to remember them just now. I haven't seen a lot of movies lately. Mel Gibson and Russell Crowe are usually winners:)The Rat Pack movies are great, also old comedies ie: Abbott & Costello, W.C. Fields,Laurel & Hardy.(that time period)
Law and order! (My husband is sick of it:) Stargate, Stargate Alantis, The O'Reilly Factor. According to Jim, 24, Ncis, House, Closer, Babylon 5, Highlander, Monk, Big Brother.( I hardly ever get peoples' strategies) Also clean comedy. My husband and I watch and laugh at stupid snake movies when we are bored. The more ridiculous the better.
Altered books, I have books started in these themes,( oriental, fantasy/medival, Jesters, Jokers & mimes, Wine, techniques.) Collage, Atcs, papercrafts, I'm trying to improve my drawing and painting skills. I'm addicted to specialty & handmade papers, I like making background papers as well.
Lately I've been into making Atcs.
I have a sewing machine that is very neglected. Just haven't gotten there yet.
I've journaled most of my life and want to explore art journals. So far the words win out. It's almost like I have to get them out of my head to start the day. Most of my journals make absolutely no sense!
I've been published in Artitude Zine. Also I would like to try designing a zine. Maybe on wine.
There are all kinds of books I love. C.S. Lewis is one of my absolute favorites. Steven R. Donaldson, J.R.R. Tolken, Randy Alcorn, Frank Peretti, Robert Ludlum, Francine Rivers, Sharon Kay Penman, Sharon Green, Chris Paolini. I like most art techinique books. I have all of Lynn Perrella's books. I order both Somerset Studio and CPS. (wish they came on alternating months, Sigh) I really like handmade zines as well. I highly recommend The Gleaner. The Bible is a part of my everyday living.

Thank you for the unicorn ATC, RAK. It was a nice surprise! Thanks again, Joanna
HAPPY 4TH!
Hi Dawny!
Thank you so much for the beautiful ATC you made me for the All Things Fae RAK. What a cool image! Is that a stamp? If it is, could you let me know what company made it so I can try to find one? I really love it!! And the paper you used for a background - is that the paper you make that agonysdecay is raving about? It is absolutely beautiful! Thanks again and have a magical day :)
I've received your ATC with a quote from the forum tag, and I love it. The artwork is so beautiful and well-executed, and the quote is heart-breaking. Thank you!
Hugs, Lisa B
Please stop by the Christian swappers group and check out our new swap, "Lamb of God". I hope you'll consider joining!:)
OOOoooo, fire colors? Gosh, I bet they are the most gorgeous things!!
Right now I'm not looking for any specific colors, I'm really happy with what you have picked out.
I think you really covered all the bases but I know there are tons more color combos you can come up with!!
I know I will want more so whatever you create I know I'll be happy with. I just gotta get through most of this before I can justify buying more, lol!!!
Is Sunday International online?
I will be trying to find that stamp! J
Oh and...I'm officially jealous of you, not only because you make the most gorgeous paper ever but you have a really neat skeleton stamp...that I want terribly!!! Any chance you can tell me where ya got it? So I can hunt one down to buy?
YEAH!! I opened the MOST GORGEOUS package today!! I swear, these have got to be the most amazing papers I've ever seen EVER!! Lady, you have got to think about making them to sell, even if it is just for a lil extra spending money. They are seriously stunning, just sitting here looking at the bundle is a load of eye candy! Thanks also for the neat lil stack of ATC alterables. I really like the red streaked paint one, so spooky indeed! I know it may take me a bit to go through all this paper but when I am through with it, I will definitely be coming back for more. So, make sure to make up some more for the future.
Don't loose this great talent of yours, it is seriously to die for stuff!
Thanks so much again dear!
I received the pkg of ATC embellishments for the #1 swapbotters tag game. What an amazing assortment. So many wonderful things. Thank you so so much. I feel spoiled. It definitely gives me some inspiration. Thanks again! :o)
