Girl from the north country

A BRIEF REQUEST:  Please, if I neglect to send something from a game or a tag, I would greatly appreciate a gentle nudge.  I appear to be more scattered than I'd like to be and I would never intentionally NOT SEND.  Thanks!

I work in a public library and love to read.  I am a writer of poetry and short stories.  I'm the mom of two beautiful young women.  I've been married to their dad for 38 years & he still makes me laugh.  We met when we started a band with two other guys.

I love music from the 60s and 70s, anything from motown to the beatles and beyond, but I like more contemporary stuff too.  I'm a fan of almost all music, exceptions being twangy country and disrespectful rap.  If it's not twangy or disrespectful, I like those two genres too.

I tend to read literary fiction most of the time.  I sometimes like biographies and memoirs.  In general I love books.  That's probably why I work in a library!  If I had to choose one "favorite" book, it would be "The Little Prince."  There is just so much in it.

Some of my all time favorite films are Casa Blanca and The Wizard of Oz.  I love all of the films that paired Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy.  I love the old "thin man" movies.  I'm a very big Hitchcock fan.  As far as more contemporary films, some of my favorites are Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Point (an animated film with music by Harry Nilson and narrated by Ringo Starr), Mirrormask (if you haven't seen it yet, RENT IT NOW,) Amelie, Rocky Horror Picture Show ("Oh, Brad!") and movies by the Coen Brothers.

I enjoy watching tv shows that were created by BBC.  I watch almost no network television because I find most of it to be pablum, but I watch Law & Order (in all it's many manifestations.)  I am a fan of Dexter,True Blood, Big Love and United States of Tara.

I love quilting and have recently gotten into trading quilties.  I enjoy making and trading ATCs.  I made a Little Prince matchbox for a trade and a few dotee dolls (they are totally fun!)  My newest favorite thing to do is hand dye fabrics . . . oh, what beautiful things you can get!

Favorite colors:  Magenta, Red, Purple, Turquoise (there aren't really any colors that I DON'T like.)   I love coffee (wouldn't you expect that from a Seattlite?) and chocolate.

Favorite beasts:  cats (both domestic and wild,) llamas, rabbits, fancy chickens, again it's easier to say what I don't like than what I do . . . not into snakes.

Please don't send me religious stuff.  I have a sister who is "born again" and that's enough.

A few things I strongly believe in:  Being kind and respectful to all living things (yes, even snakes.)  Organ donation - because it saved my life when my kids were 5 & 10.  Sending all swaps.  Rating the swaps I receive.

I grew up on the shores of Lake Superior and so I love large bodies of water.  I've lived quite a number of places (though always in the U.S.) and the ones I've loved best have been the ones near water.

Comment: Hi Charline- I'm so impressed that you made these things. I may frame the flowered blue piece, and I'll surely use the beautiful paper to make cards. Thank you.
Response: You're welcome, and thanks for your patience. I'm so glad you like the cyanotype. (Iloved how that one turned out too.) Be aware that it will be affected by full sunlight though. Someone said that if they start to fade from the sun, they can be "refeshed" by putting them in a darrk closet overnight.

Comment: Thanks for the letter and very much for the beautiful red fabric and the ribbon. The snapshots were great -- I thought the pink sky must be a sunset -- you've convinced me how unusually lovely your part of the world is. Very nice crafts and I'm fascinated with chickens wandering arond wild.

Comment: Amazing that at our age we are all so much alike isn't it? I love my pin cushion and your list, I tried to read it to some younger friends but for some reason they didn't find it as interesting as I did...LOL
