About Me

Things don't always work out like we plan in life... I had wanted to either be an airline stewardess or a fashion designer but was in the wrong spot at the wrong time in life, but my life did incorporate some of my dreams. My favorite things in life are to travel the world, love to sew, draw, paint, create art in any shape or form, explore new techniques and share by teaching. I love to do anything with fibers, paints, dyes and found objects. I love to paint with a needle or a brush! Give me a theme and a challenge and I am quite content in stretching my limits of imagination! I love anything to do with fantasy and mythical creatures, such as faeries, dragons, trolls and mermaids. I am also drawn to texture, color and design. I love glitter and shine and even raggy things! I am a former high school art teacher but these days spend my time designing patterns and have a machine quilting business.

I am originally from ND and have lived in England, Germany, Sicily and now Ohio. We have raised 3 children and have 3 granddaughters. One 20, 18 and the youngest 15. Unfortunately they don't live close. Instead now we have several cats indoor and out.

I really have traveled the world and would love to see more. Having been a military wife, one gets the gypsy life in their blood! I have been to all 50 states and 16 countries. Amongst my favorite places are Alaska, England, Switzerland and the Caribbean!

Some of my favorite things

More of my favorite things...... My favorite colors are electric blue and neon greens.(Think of the spectrum in a peacock feather!) I have never met a color I didn't like! They all belong on an artist's palette!

Things I wouldn't mind receiving:

peacock feathers, teas, coffees, ephemera, ATC's, steam punk supplies, broken jewelry, watch parts or anything for art, aqua flow brushes, Caran d'Ache Neocolor II Artists' Crayons (I know a big set is expensive, but would even cherish getting single ones:), alcohol inks, staz on stamp pad, rubber stamps, used postage stamps, foreign money, charms, glass beads(for crafts and also troll or pandora type for my bracelet!) fusible crystals, embossing powders, black sharpies, micron pens any size especially black&browns, brads, copper foil tape, slides, bees wax dominos, old keys, rubber stamps or anything for altered or mixed media art anything unique or old, thrift store finds

Favorite Music

MUSIC..... I love a variety of musicians and groups. They include Jewel, Jesse Cook,Enrique Iglesias, Phil Colins, Vanessa Mae, Bond, Carlos Santana, Paula Abdul, Kelly Clarkson, KT Tunstall, Selena Gomez, Enya, Enigma, U2,Nickelback, Rihanna, Dido, Madonna, Sheryl Crow, Ingrid Michaelson, Anya Marina, Toni Braxton, Lady Ga Ga and many more. I also love classic rock. I don't care for country, alternative or rap. I like a good blues once in awhile, but Jazz isn't really my thing. I like new age music or something soothing to do art with or massage type music too.

dislikes and no no's

Sorry, no floral scents and soaps. I am also allergic to nickel metals. (However, dollars will be accepted. LOL)

Comment: Good morning Wanda, I received your package and it made my day! I wish I could add more hearts to your rating for this beautiful journal page. I can't believe it's your first...it is magnificent. The theme is wonderful and will bring smiles for years to come. I am truly touched by all the heart and work you put into this project for me...thank you so much. I wish you were sitting next to me so I could point to things and ask you "how did you do that!" I love the sun/moon coaster and the stamped fabric. Some questions: was wondering about the stamp on the fabric...the handwriting...can't quite make out the whole message, but what I can read, I love. I think I might want to locate one if they are still available. Did you draw the sweet face at the bottom edge of the page? Bye for now...thank you again...I am still overwhelmed with gratifude.
Response: So glad you like your journal page. After I read your description again, I wasn't sure if it would fit the criteria or if it would be a "cry"teria! I guess to know me, I am always looking for whim or things that carry more than one message. Yes, I drew the face at the bottom edge of the page. I had actually drawn and painted extras on some stitch and tear fibers one time as I did them as ATC swaps and the theme was wild women, so what I did was to put piercings in the tongue, eye brows and nose. LOL But since I had extras, it worked well as a woman laughing too! I will put them on my flickr site:) Ah, the fabric, It was a piece that I had rust dyed and then used a redish color to distress it. As for the stamp, it was one that I picked up at either Joanns or Hobby Lobby I think. I will send you a clear stamp of it on paper with the next trade. It reads : The beauty of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile... it's the spiritual inspiration that comes when you discover that someone else believes in you and is willing to trust you with their friendship. The stamp is by Hero Arts. So check at www.heroarts.com:) It's K5058 Frienship Message. Anything else you want to know, just holler! I used mat modge podge as the finish and rolled it on with a mini sponge roller. The LAUGH was free handed and cut out. How I started was when you mentioned something uplifting, "laugh" was the first word that came to mind, so I looked through Yahoo images for inspiration and this horse came up so I new I had to do something with it as it really cracked me up. Then everything else sort of fell into place as I was thinking about what laugh was. The bird images came from Art Chix Studios I think. As for blending the edges to form shadows on the border, I used a flat brush, got it wet, loaded an edge with acrylic paints and let it blend on a paper plate and then floated it on the paper. If it doesn't make sence, let me know and I will be glad to find an example somewhere for you. Anything else????

Comment: You are a star! I love all the wonderful stuff you sent, especially handmade/painted/drawn stuff. I love the envelope made from cereal box. Thanks for the Lutrador pieces too...I bought some Lutrador a year ago and have been intimidated to use it. What did you use to stamp with...india ink? You have beautiful handwriting. About what to do next? Did you want to continue with the piecemeal swapping? I would be open to sending a full handmade page, sender's choice of materials, techniques with uplifting message. It could be enclosed in envelope or a self mailer. Does that appeal to you?
Response: glad it make it's way to you! For the lutradur, I just use dyenaflow and some watered down acrylics if that 's what you mean. If you are wondering about the block printing, I used acrylics. Sure doing a hand made page would be fine. You can set up the swap if you wish to earn a star this time if you want. If not, I can do it. Either way is fine. Will perhaps be 3 or 4 weeks before I can get to it with summer, catching up with customer stuff. etc.

Comment: wow,i love this collage, thank you so much, could you tell me what the finish is on it,is it mod pudge? and thank you for all the extras, wish i could give you more hearts, take care lizxx
Response: Glad you love it:) You are correct, the finish is modge podge. I used the gloss lustre on it. I also used a roller sponge brush, hence the texture instead of brush strokes. I also put it on matt board.
