About Me

I live with husband and son in a small town by lake Neuchâtel (that's in the French-speaking part of Switzerland). In my spare time, I love to cook, make things with my ten fingers and practice ice-dancing.

Favorite Movies

The Pillow Book by Peter Greenaway. Anything by Woody Allen. And I have a thing for Bollywood movies: Dil Se by Mani Ratnam, Veer-Zaara by Yash Chopra, Om Shanti Om ... Certain Wu Xiao Pan for their beautiful costumes and choreographies

Favorite Books

I used to teach literature in French and in English, so my list of favorite books is rather long. I guess I can boil it down to the following: Gustave Flaubert, William Faulkner, Flannery O'Connor, Maryse Condé, Edwidge Danticat, Toni Morrison. I'm reading a lot of African American, Caribbean, and Japanese literature. And for quick reads, anything by Fred Vargas or Arnaldur Indridasson.

Favorite Crafts

Can't live without them: sewing, crochet, seedbead jewelry, mixed media art, stamps, printmaking. I love to experiment with textures using different techniques!

Favorite Television

I'm not much of a TV addict. Currently watching Game of Thrones and True Detective on DVD.

Favorite colors

Anything red, green,or purple, I really don't like pink and yellow (including gold).

Favorite places

Iceland for its beautiful landscapes, its great music (Sigur Ros), its sense of community. Japan for its contrasts, its food, its temples, and for the beauty found in even the smallest everyday object. Canada, because I lived there for a little while San Francisco for its food, its art museums, its cool ethnic neighborhoods, and the best second-hand bookstore I know.

Wish list

  • fat quarters or baby fat quarters
  • vintage or repurposed fabric (e.g. men's shirts, cotton and linen only)
  • bias tape
  • tissue paper and other thin wrapping papers that can easily be collaged
  • deli paper

  • handmade and/or hand-painted paper (would love some gelli prints)

Comment: That is really a coincidence getting the book back from you! What fun! Sounds like you are having a great time ahead of you. Enjoy Metz and Paris. I'm sure there will be lots of interesting things to discover and take in. We are finally getting some sunshine and warmer weather, and I've been for some walks along the vineyards here, which are showing their first green shoots. Take care!

Comment: Hello Annick! Thank you for the beautiful bird ATC! I absolutely love it, and I'm so happy to add it to my collection of ATCs. I hope you enjoyed your holiday by the sea, That sounds like a wonderful thing to be doing right now! I enjoy walking on the beach so much, especially if there are pretty shells to collect. I don't have any special plans for the rest of the summer. My husband and I spend 10 days in Florida this past May, and a week in Cabo San Lucas in February, so we couldn't really go anywhere this summer. We are planning a trip for sometime in Autumn, but I'm not sure where yet. Thanks again for the lovely card....Sincerely, Chrissy
Comment: Thank you so much for the beautiful selection of fabric squares! I hope you have a wonderful holiday! Hugs, Diane

phillaine on Jun 7, 2017:

Hello Annick! Thank you for the wonderful surprises you sent me for the April/May wishlist in TLOES group. First of all, I LOVE the letter you wrote, and the mandala you made out of stamped images made me want to try making one right away! I really appreciate you taking the time and care to go through and find lots of groups of 4 and 8 of stickers so I can work on this new sticker mandala project. The gorgeous rainbow of envelopes is fantastic, and I very much am in need of these larger sizes-- I'm looking forward to using them for my mail art. Thanks again for your kindness and generosity. I look forward to "seeing you in the mail" soon. :)

Amities, Sonia (SuMay)
