i am a 27 year old woman who lives a double life as a white collar worker and a punk rock girl. i live the suburban life in Richmond, VA with my husband and our dog, Oliver. We found Oliver at about 4 to 6 weeks old living under our house, scared and surviving off of acorns and moss. He is now about a year and a half and has grown into a 47lb mixed breed.
i write a zine called Introvert and have been doing so for about 12 years.
my most favorite animals are alpacas, seals, owls, and pandas. (i really do like anything fuzzy and cute though)... i detest deer.
My most favorite comic strip is Pearls Before Swine. I love Peanuts as well... but i like Charlie Brown & the gang moreso than Snoopy.
i have a ridiculous amount of kawaii stationary and always want even more. bad english translations make me gleeful. also, i like food with faces.
i currently love the color combination of blues, browns, pinks and greens. all colors can be accepted if in the right combos but i really don't like "rainbow" things.
i am a Virgo and a textbook example of one. An earthy perfectionist who is very detail oriented and well organized... however you may not always see that on the exterior. I like to think of myself as Earthy and a nature lover. Spring and Autumn are tied as my favorite seasons.
I very much love postcards and polaroids. I love things at both extremes of urban and rural. Trains are my favorite mode of transportation.
I love flowers such as daisies, cherry & plum blossoms, & tulips.
I am Polish by descent (my grandfather was a Polish immigrant), and feel very connected with Poland and Eastern Europe even tho I have yet to visit there. Rumour has it that my Great-Grandfather (that my grandma never knew) was a Russian immigrant.
i love love love flea markets and thrift stores. i am a strong believer in one (wo)man's trash is another (wo)man's treasure! even if i don't buy, just look and smell at all the goodies. Especially typewriters, luggage, glass bottles, old books, etc. I am a sucker for anything vintage & kitchy.
i like things that are ironic... but not in a forced way. (i'm not a hipster). i like sarcasm and dry humor... oh and dark humor too of course.
i am interested in learning about new cultures & art. (i am quite the boring raised-catholic american.) Though, even if my leanings are agnostic now, i do enjoy the peacefulness that is an old catholic church & i love the art.
likes: vintage, tattered & worn, things with a good story, rustic (without being 'country' or faux 'log cabin'), nature, the smell of wood & dirt, eastern europe, typewriters, fine ttipped black ink pens, language, clip art, coming-of-age novels, snowflakes, silver, traditional and cute Japanese art (but not anime!!), unique post-it notes that stick well (i go through a TON of these at work), cultural icons
dislikes: fake vintage, victorian looking things, cherubs, religious items, country decor, generic 'scrapbooking' materials (you know premade stickers that have words like 'joy' on them), faux punk, flowery or perfumy scents, disney, wal-mart, fantasy items, Mary Engelbrite, romance novels, red & green holiday decorations, gold, hemp jewelry, anime, patriotic items, literal junk
interested in learning more: green living, sustainable living, gardening, home remedies, herbs, Polish culture & language, Spanish language, tarot, feminism, non-binary gender, geurrilla art, traveling with not a dime, back-to-the-land, railroad history, pre-prenatal body care, etc
green day, pinhead gunpowder, discount, fifteen, crimpshrine, the replacements, rilo kiley, madeline, erik petersen, erin tobey, tilly & the wall are some of my favorite bands/singers.
by genre this means, punk rock & pop punk, edgy pop, indie rock, folk and folk punk, etc. i do also enjoy hearing music from other countries especially Irish folk and some French pop. i like Outlaw and Alt Country as well.
musical dislikes: techno, r&b, hip hop, new country, and most mainstream top 40.
house of yes, waiting for guffman, best in show, bring it on, girl interrupted, beautiful girls, little miss sunshine, bandits (the german film), the goonies, chocolat, amelie, juno
Black Books, The Office (UK), LOST, Buffy, Dead Like Me, Deadliest Catch, Dirty Jobs, any true crime shows
Harriet The Spy & Ramona Quimby are my fictional heroes(Hearts for all things Harriet & Ramona), Tim Sandlin novels esp. the GroVont Trilogy, J.D. Salinger, i really like young adult fiction (yes still at age 27) & coming of age stories. I also like Dorothy Parker & Sylvia Plath. I've recently read Running With Scissors and loved it. I mostly read zines, with the obvious, Cometbus, being my favorite.
zines (my zine is called Introvert), collage, rubber stamps, postcards, paper crafts, ATCs
I am starting out on FBs, Decos, Slams, etc. Please feel free to PM me if you have excess you'd like to send on to me!
