I have a fascination with stars and hearts, and I mean the literal ones, not movie stars and five point shapes and the symbolic heart used to sell valentines and promote some idea of love.
Other details about me can be found below.
Where do I begin?
Music wise I am a fan of movie soundtracks. My tastes then range from Alanis Morissette to the Barenaked Ladies to Sarah MacLachlan to Sara Bareilles to Alison Krauss to Queen to Abba to Simon & Garfunkel to John Denver to Maria Callas. The list above is only a small sampling of the collection of music I have on my computer.
I also have an affinity for music from 1997 to 1999, as that is when most of the school dances I went to happened during that time. Also, I'm partial to R&B guy bands such as All 4 One and Boyz II Men. (This partiality extends to N'Sync and Backstreet Boys for some unknown reason. :) )
I read a lot. Mostly I stick to young adult books and classics, my favourite authors being Ian Bone, Ann Brashares, Chris Crutcher, Sarah Dessen, Jean Ferris, Jasper Fforde, Anne Fine, Beth Goobie, Lois Lowry, Wendy Orr, Jerry Spinelli and John Wyndham, to name a few.
Still, I will read pretty much anything I can get my hands on from science fiction to non-fiction.
I also specifically look for fiction and non-fiction books about people dealing with chronic illness because I work as a resource co-ordinator for a counselling centre.
My favourite movie is Garden State. I like romantic comedies, and my sister and I are on a quest to find the 100 funniest movies (in our opinion.) So far on that list are What About Bob? and The Money Pit.
I am not a fan of horror movies at all. I enjoy science fiction movies a lot, and documentaries to a certain extent.
As with books, I am on the look out for movies about people dealing with chronic illness. I am aggravated by bad transplant movies of which there seem to be a lot, but I watch them because I like to point out where they go wrong. (Don't get me started on Seven Pounds or Crank: High Voltage.)
I check out new tv shows often. I just finished watching Red Dwarf, a British science fiction comedy show from the late eighties. I love Joan of Arcadia and wish it was still on tv. Torchwood is another sci-fi favourite of mine, as well as Stargate: SG1 and Stargate Atlantis.
I am a huge fan of Saturday Night Live and funny shows like Two and a Half Men. I tend to watch a lot of medical tv shows like Grey's Anatomy, Nurse Jackie, Hawthorne, Royal Pain, etc.
I love to knit and crochet. Currently I am working on a knitted afghan but I have about four other projects in the works as well. (I'm not always good at staying on task. :) )
I do origami, I paint, and I'm pretty much willing to try new crafts at least once. I'm a creative person and I love opportunities to stretch my creativity.
I just did an inchie swap which I loved and am looking forward to doing more.
Random things I dislike: Advertising napkins, caffeine. I
Random things I love: Stickers (not stickers with words), chocolate, peppermint, collecting coins from different countries, yarn, patterned paper, ribbons, olives, journals, knitting and crochet patterns, christmas ornaments.
