I love rock, punk (esp. psychobilly and old school punk), metal, alternative, industrial, jazz, blues, native american music, and rockabilly. I like some country (mostly old school country and alt. country). I really don't care for contemporary country, unless it is alternative country. I really don't care for most pop music or pop country. I love a lot of the old rap music from when I was a kid in the '80's, but I really don't care for rap past about 1988 or so. I also don't really care for most r&b/soul past the late 1980's.

I love documentaries, independent films, and horror films (esp. zombie films). My favorite directors are John Sayles, John Waters, Woody Allen, Ron Howard, and George A. Romero.

I mostly read true crime, biographies, and stuff related to law and psychology, but I am open to other stuff. My most favorite novel is "To Kill a Mockingbird," and I am a big fan of Poppy Z. Brite.

OK, I feel I need to address ratings, cuz I get messaged about it a ton:

I pretty much chronically have a big pile of post cards to go through and give ratings on (on top of Postcrossing stuff to register) and I don't check my box every single day, because, well, my life is just hectic like that. (Trying to look for a job, health issues, blah blah.) But rest assured, I do get around to rating everything in time. I used to be a really harsh rater-- I used to give 3's if people were only a date or two late. But I am not like that anymore-- as long as I get something, and it pretty much comports with the swap guidelines, you'll likely get a 5. I only give 3 ratings anymore for lateness if you're at least a week and a half late and haven't already contacted me. And I never, ever give 1 ratings unless I am absolutely sure I've cleared everything out of my box and given ratings on everything I have. However, with all this aside, if you're a newbie trying to get into a swap that requires a certain degree of rating history or if you're trying to recover from a bad rating, and you're in dire need of me rating you fast, do message me to let me know.

To be blunt, I'd really prefer people not reply to my ratings of them just to acknowledge the rating, because I think it's pretty safe to assume everyone keeps track of their ratings and appreciates good ratings.

If I can try to angel swaps for people, even if it was something I wasn't originally signed up for I will, but I don't have a whole lot of money right now.
