Here's hoping 2010 is a good one for everybody.  

Hi, I'm the wacky mom of a busy 9 year old girl. I love to create and cook, things with a history or story are interesting to me and I have an awful weakness for soft, sweet, creamy things that make me feel guilty after I've eaten them.... but not for long. I do confess to being a pretty fabric and paper junkie. never enough. i do prefer to make a lot of what i send out but don't always have the time. i shoot for a 50/50 ratio, some swaps will get more handmade, others store bought but i wanted to say so upfront. let me know if you prefer something else.

I love to sew all kinds of things so I have a weakness for fabrics. I'm in a retro phase right now, like the colors and patterns of the '60's- '70's prints, I also have a major weakness for the flour sack fabrics of the 40's. I knit, crochet and paint and work in paper crafts. I have an assortment of beads and jewelry making supplies. well, I guess I dabble in all kinds of crafts.

My daughter, Emery, is 9 and the love of my life. She is typical in that she has likes and dislikes but these change often. Currently she is collecting matchbox/ hot wheels cars, marbles, has always had a weakness for office supplies (post its, markers, pencils, every kind of notebook, folders, you name it), she likes purples, grass green, hot pink, she loves Lisa Frank anything, has some of her notebooks and stickers. Emery is very much into fairies too, not the froo froo girlie ones but the real fairies, flower fairies, water fairies, etc. although tinkerbell is an exception She has a collection of purses and winter gloves, never has enough. She likes small pouches, coin purses, that kind of thing. She has very bad allergies to many things including apple, grape, pear and cherry, egg, gelatin, milk and chocolate. Candy should be not gummy or marshmallow types. She likes gums of all kinds, fruity candies like life savers, butterscotch, nerds, airheads, peppermint, tic tacs, the old time candy sticks, that kind of thing.

fabric has to be cotton but i like wool and felt too, fabrics are one of the things i can't have enough of

color range is pastel to vibrant right now, lime green, lavender, light blues, pinks and red, whites and creams are always good too

i also like the sage greens, dark browns, pumpkin orange, sepia prints that remind me of primitives

i love whimsy. adore those handmade or store bought items that are a little off the straight and narrow. not so much cutesy, more wonky , cottage and shabby are always a winner

into the retro movement, love the old patterns and colors of the 30's and 40's fabric, flour sack fabrics, also the 60's and 70's, the novelty prints are cool. plaid wools in natural colors and trims galore, love them

kawaii is cute

love nature, the smell of cut grass, the green of spring and the colors of summer and fall

i applaud recycling, reusing materials in crafts and in life, bravo to all who are green!

i am not a snow bunny, i like to be warm, in canada winter is long so anything that would help me stay toasty would be nice

all kinds of paper, patterned and solid, from tissue paper to card stock. i recycle office filing folders in all kinds of ways

trims, all kinds, ribbons, buttons, etc.

anything crafty, anything, i enjoy seeing what comes from other peoples' hands

smelly pretty things, citrus like lemon, orange and grapefruit, vanilla or spicy smells like cinnamon and clove, also chocolate and coffee smells and the smells of cut grass, clean smells

love coffee, gotta have the daily joe! flavored preferably vanilla, hazlenut, irish cream, yummm.

love mexican, spicy goodness, and cheese, how can you pass that up?

love to cook, bake, favorite recipes are a great swap

jewelry is silver, definitely, and not too chunky and again circles, i wear all jewelry but earrings should be classy/ simple and clip- ons, i need to re-pierce my ears here someday, doh!

i'm a dark chocolate girl but i like fruity candy too, citrus flavors are always good, and caramel and nuts, how can you say no? coconut is a weakness!

magazines of all kinds

i like ugly dolls and am caving in to the food with faces craze, they're so cute!

i do like things with a history. old, antique, vintage things, things that make you think, tramp art, old trims and sewing notions, odd little pieces of old junk, vintage clip art, all that kind of stuff.

love cats, i miss having a kitty around. i like their attitudes.

Rest assured everything I send to my partners will come from a smoke free and pet free home. Not that I don't love pets, I can't have them here. :(

my partner for the spring swap, loveofkids, was fully suspended after i sent out her package so i assume i won't get a rating for that swap. ugh.

i was also paired with youngmomatheart for the love of bracelet swap, she too was fully suspended.

geez. is it the economy?

hosting a swap is like hosting a party. you want everybody to enjoy themselves and leave happy. when someone spoils the fun for others, it's your job as host to step in and straighten out the idiots.

i take my responsibilities as swap host very seriously. i understand that we responsible swappers are concerned with being flaked on and i want anyone in my swaps to be assured, i will not let anyone go home from my party feeling miserable.

i don't always advertise the fact that i will angel swaps as sometimes people take advantage of this but i think it is my job as the host to step in and correct things when another guest gets abusive. no one will leave empty handed and abused. i promise.

i have no qualms about reporting flakers and making their lives as miserable as i can. it is stealing and completely unfair. i have no tolerance.

any time anyone in my swaps has a question or a problem, i'm always a message away and i'll do my best to answer you or correct a problem.
