I am a medical assistant living in Oklahoma. I am married to a wonderful man, my highschool sweetheart, and have two great kids, ages 21 and 18. My husband and son are both musicians in the bands at our our church. I have two sweet, spoiled dogs, a Rat Terrier, Zoey, and a tiny Chiuaua named Peanut. Our Family loves to travel and we just finished visiting our 50th state! Hawaii was our grand finale of our goal, and man, did we have a blast! I can't wait to see what travel adventures lay ahead for us. So far, Alaska has been my favorite. I believe that travel is one of the greatest gifts you can give to your children and yourself. We also camp in our little camper, go boating with friends, fish and hike. I am also a runner - I have run 2 marathons, but mostly just do 5k's. This year my goal is to do one race per month. I'm trying to do lots of fun runs, like trail ones and costume ones. I'm finding that it is really making me love running again. Training for a marathon can really wear you down! My daughter is a talented artist and we love doing crafts together when she is home from college. I became interested in swaps when I began sending her care-packages at college. I get so excited when I find fun things to send her in the maiI and creative ways to package them. I love preparing and decorating packages just as much as I love receiving them.
I love doing crafts of all kinds. I do wearable art, sewing, paper crafts and card making. I like indie art, recycled crafts, wearables, fabric crafts, vintage and new funky ideas. Pretty much if it's crafty...I love it! Swap-bot has opened a whole new world of ATC's, match-boxes, inchies,mini-zines and fabric post-cards. Haven't made many yet, but I'm ready to learn! I also love to collect and share vintage patterns, fabrics, trims and buttons. The only craft I don't really do is yarn crafts (knitting and crochet) I love making gifts for people. I also make velvet backed headbands for myself and other running buddies, so if you send me velvet or printed ribbon please send at least 15" so I can use it for a headband.
Since I was a child I have loved writing letters and decorating the envelopes. We traveled a lot when I was a kid and I always had a former classmate or friend I was writing to. I felt a sense of rebelion when I would scribble a picture or cartoon across an envelope or cover it with stickers. "I can't believe I'm getting away with this!" I would think as I sent it away with my mom to be mailed. (She was a postal worker for almost 30 years) I take great delight in mailing and receiving unusual, oddly shaped, naked mail and decorated packages. One of my favorite books is "A Good Mail Day". I have a favorite post office I like to go to because the lady at the counter just squeals when she sees my crazy packages. I always imagine how many people will see it along its way and what the receiver will think when they open the mail box!
My favorite color is red, because it is the best color known to man teehe, everyone looks great in it! - but I love all the colors of the rainbow, yellow and I have had somewhat of a difficult realtionship, but after quilting and doing some painting I realized that it is the sunshine of colors.
I collect thimbles, unusual and vintage pincushions and sewing kits, ladybugs, and vintage or home-made Christmas ornaments, I especially love home-made AND vintage - my favorite ornament is a little angel from the 50's that someone made with a doll's head and some lace and beads and a little sequin for her halo - it is wonderful. Every year I tell myself, NO MORE ORNAMENTS, and every year I buy like a gazillion more. I have finally resorted to just buying more trees!
I LOVE thrifting and yard-saling and would much rather have something original, old or hand made than something new, shiny, and mass-produced.

I am interested in private swaps - please PM if you want to!
My daughter, whom I lovingly call my art slave, has requested...errr demanded that I put a few of her interests on here. She often helps me on swaps by carving special rubber stamps, making patterns, and helping me decorate the packages. So if you want to send a little something for her and keep me in good graces with my little art slave - here goes:
dinosaurs
ninja turtles
stickers
costume jewelry (especially vintage)
candy
stuffies
kinderball candy (we can't get them in US)
I always try to rate as soon as I get swaps. If you notice I haven't rated you please PM me for a reminder. ALso, If I have sent you something, please, please, please rate me so I know that you have gotten it. . So much time and effort goes into sending swaps and it only takes a second to do a quick rating.

Thank you for the Komen scarf. It is perfect, and I'm mailing it to her this week.
So glad you got your "naked" mail!! I really wasn't sure it would make it through the mail so I sent something that wasn't a big deal if it didn't survive...the postal worker tried to tell me I had to put it in an envelope and I said the whole purpose was to send it "naked" just for fun and he says..."OK, why not??? Let's see what happens!!" I will have to let him know it MADE IT!!!!...Charlene
