I like pretty much everything. but I'm a big fan of some great local bands from MN (where I used to live. If you're interested in bluegrass, folk music, world music, etc I highly recommend Wookiefoot (greatest band EVER), Trampled by Turtles, Particle, Mason Jennings, and Charlie Parr. Otherwise I like Classic Rock, Folk, Bluegrass, Jazz, Funk, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Leftover Salmon, Incubus, Bob Marley, Rolling Stones, The Doors, MGMT, Patsy Cline, Billie Holiday
I've become completely Obsessed with ATC's!! I've put almost all of my other projects aside in the past couple of months just to work on ATC's! I also do a lot of collages, home-made cards (which I make just like a larger version of an ATC), art journals, and altered books. I used to scrapbook a lot, but I've given them up in recent years for art journals.
Ever since I was little I've gobbled up books like candy. Altered Trading Card Workshop has been a great tool to get ideas for all the ATC's I've been doing. I've read dozens of craft books, (I really want to get my hands on the 1,000 Artist Trading Cards book or 1,000 Art Journals book). My other favorites are Alice in Wonderland, Shel Silverstein's poetry, Atlas Shrugged, The Fountainhead, (both by Ayn Rand, she's great!) All Roald Dahl Books (especially Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Danny: Champion of the World), Bastard out of Carolina, Paulo Coehlo's books (especially Brida and the Alchemist) Murder mystery/suspense, photgraphy books (so I can cut them up) My absolute FAVORITE craft magazine is Somerset Studio - simple AMAZING!!
All the Quinton Tarantino Movies, All the Tim Burton Movies, Alice in Wonderland, Mary Poppins, Wizard of Oz, Goonies, Boondock Saints, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Vanity Fair,I suppose I could go on and on. I like thought-provoking movies, or movies with beautiful color (like Tim Burton's).
Owls, elephants, birds, butterflies, caterpillars, turtles
I love Black and white photography, (for display as well as for using in art)
Vintage images, men, women, advertising, etc.
Alice in Wonderland,
Time,
People (especially faces),
The female form,
1950's and 60's advertising,
Vintage Circus,
Steampunk! ,
The eclectic and unusual. I've really loved working with a steampunk theme, especially using all those little gears and moveable parts. Who doesn't like a work of art you can also play with!? I've only been able to find a few different things with vintage circus images and I'd like to find some more. There's just something so compelling about the rich colors.
Oh colors, colors, colors! I love them all! Usually I use a lot of yellows, browns, coppers, golds, and every shade in between. I also love black and white (with a bright contrasting color like red or teal). I love teal! And purple.
I'm loving working with embossing powders! And I'm on a rampage collecting and using metal embellishments. I REALLY want to get my hands on more clock and watch parts for steampunk ATC's. I'm having a blast with those as well. I have absolutely NO USE for buttons. I have a million and not a clue what to do with them all! Please don't send buttons!
