I love anything travel related, as well as anything to do with memory and the process of memory making. I am also very interested in art! [see below]
I live in a very small, sleepy town with my boyfriend-- we just added a corgi puppy to our family so anything pup-related in the swap would be great, too[her name is Pip]!
Other than that- I love getting outdoors for hiking, walks, picking berries and apples, snorkeling, card making, and surprises in the mail :)
I'm so glad I've found this community!
Note I will possibly re-gift from time to time...this doesn't mean I don't appreciate the gift, but instead I'd rather it go to someone who would love it rather than collect dust on my shelves. Hope this doesn't offend-thanks!
I love ALL kinds of music and am willing to give anything a shot-- my taste is very eclectic.
I like silly stuff like ABBA, Tom Jones, Michael Jackson and assorted bad rap...FUNK! and also dub
As well as all Jazz vocals, Joni Mitchell, feist, the knife, Peaches, Tom Waits! [I LOVE him], flamenco guitar and Spanish music in general [ie, Ojos de brujo, Ozomatli, etc], and some not-to-honky-tonk country like Patty Griffin, Johnny Cash, the Dixie Chicks and so on.
-Little Women!!! -Criterion Collection anything -The Labyrinth -Monsoon Wedding -Alice in Wonderland -The Bridges of Madison County -Out of Africa -Dumb and Dumber [I could quote that back to front!] -The Birdcage -Trains, Planes and Automobiles -Mad Max
-Squidbillies -Sex in the City -Animal Rescue -Vacation Home -Project Runway -Top Chef
-Old PBS shows they don't air anymore like Frontier House...
I myself mainly only make cards and other paper-crafts...unless you call cooking/baking a craft, in which I love to make my own vanilla, mini freezer pies, new recipes, etc. But! I love anything well designed and handmade, especially knit items which I have tried but am no good at!!
Art is a big part of my life.
I love going to museums, particularly MassMoCa [massachusetts museum of comtemporary arts], The louvre was amazing and I nearly cried when I saw the African exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC.
My favorite art includes-but is not limited to: -1920's poster art -Surrealist, such as Salvador Dali -Northern European art- such as Jan Van Eyck or the piece "the garden of earthy delights" by H.Bosch -Fragonard and some Romanticism -Illuminated manuscripts -Decorative arts [such as furniture] -Architecture: Traditional Swiss houses, Historic Homes, Frank lloyd Wright, Geary -Hudson River School artist like Albert Bierstat... -Monuments such as the Vietnam Wall -AFRICAN ART, all of it, my absolute favorite.
Art! Cookbooks!!! TRAVEL BOOKS AND MAGS!
Some novels I really enjoyed have been: "Stiff", "Bridges of Madison County", "The Secret life of Bees", "The Book of Lost Things", "Into the Wild", etc.
Since I am in a lot of x-mas-themed swaps I thought I'd say a little about what kind of things I enjoy: I love the idea of a "Currier and Ives" type christmas, especially the decorations and even the idea of giving oranges or fresh fruit...caroling, old traditions, using naturey items to decorate, "father christmas" or "sinterklaas"-- pretty much the magical/special feeling of the season. I also enjoy classical music for winter and also the "crooner" bing crosby songs as well. Hope this helps!!
