I'm an 19 year old uni student, currently studying Creative Writing and loving it! I just finished my first year, and somehow managed to pass all my classes (yay! :D ), which means i'm on to my second year!
I've live with my boyfriend Mark, and we've been together about a year and six months :D
Although i live close to the city now (about half and hour away by bus), i'll probably always feel country girl-ish. I grew up in the Barossa Valley, which some of you may have heard of because it produces a lot of wine (giant expanses of vineyards are not an unusual sight, even down the main roads).
I listen to bands like Rilo Kiley, Get Set Go, The New Pornographers, The Weepies, Tegan and Sara, The Beatles, Moonbabies, Ben Kweller and She And Him.
However, i'll probably love anything with a lovely acoustic guitar or piano part in it. I do also enjoy pop from the 50's, 60's, 70's 80's and 90's, and some jazz.
I do not like: rap, speed-metal, super-heavy rock.
I love many, many books, but i'd have to say that my current favourite is 'The Time Traveller's Wife', followed closely by anything written by David Sedaris and 'Gone With The Wind' (sighs oh, Rhett!).
oh, tv shows, how i love thee.
i like: Dexter, House, Scrubs, America's Next Top Model, Futurama, Torchwood, Robot Chicken, Friday Night Lights, Daria, Hustle, Heroes, Lost, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, South Park, Exit 57, Chuck, The Office and Cold Case.
i don't like: Big Brother, Survivor, sports.
but my three top favourites would have to be ... Grey's Anatomy, Pushing Daisies and Doctor Who! (i saw the old series when they repeated it on ABC, but i do prefer the tenth Doctor overall [or the Fourth]. Now, if only they'd bring Romana back ...)
Sleepless In Seattle, Sliding Doors, Robin Hood: Men In Tights, Amelie, Ocean's Eleven, Garden State, Bridget Jone's Diary, Legally Blonde, The Three Musketeers, X-Men, Fight Club, The Illusionist, Spiderman, Iron Man, Once, Across The Universe, A Knight's Tale, and old-school Disney movies (ie 'The Little Mermaid' and 'Aladdin')
In my spare time I like to read or bake. I'm always interested to try new recipes, especially people's tried-and-true family favourites.
I enjoy card-making, knitting (although so far i can only make scarves, i'm trying to learn how to make beanies), gardening and scrapbooking.
I'm currently learning how to use a sewing machine, so I'm always on the look out for good beginner's patterns.
Magazines or newspapers for other countries (for me that is any country that is not Australia).
Vintage or vintage-inspired things, especially from the late 50's/early 60's.
Notepads - I have a terrible memory, so i write everything down! And who doesn't love pretty notepads :D
Christmas (I start my preparation in September!).
Webcomics - especially the cute/odd Natalie Dee (nataliedee.com), the not-very-questionable but always entertaining Questionable Content (questionablecontent.net), the adroable and hilarious Pictures For Sad Children (picturesforsadchildren.com), the math-and-romance-filled XKCD (xkcd.com), and the always offensive Cyanide and Happiness (explosm.net/comics/1517/).
