My Website

I've started a mail themed zine - celebrating mail culture. Website is: wingedsnailmail.tumblr.com It's open to submissions! :) This zine is still going strong as we are on issue #4!

I need more mail themed ephemera for my mail zine. Open to private swaps for this! :) I'm especially looking for security lined envelopes as I use them for mail art and zine backgrounds.

I've started the Sad Snail Society - which is a zine about mental health and mail culture!

Open to private trades for the mail themed zines.

Mail Culture

I started a group here on swapbot for mail culture stuff! It's called 'Mail Culture'. http://swap-bot.com/group/f56c13ed1e19eaea50eb5a87ef1e30c4/about

I enjoy food themed postcards and collect food themed stamps. I like homemade and free ad postcards if they are food themed! I am collecting recipe postcards in the hopes of eventually making a meal out of all the recipes I recieve. Check out my postcrossing profile here: http://www.postcrossing.com/user/Sarah99

  • green, brown, blue (nature tones)
    • recipes (especially vegetarian or vegan ones)
    • art/photography
    • zombies
    • moustaches (thinking of decorating my bathroom in a 'stache theme)
    • pictures of food and utensils
    • anything homemade
    • swearing in cross stitch (so much commitment!)
  • jigsaw puzzles
  • bicycle touring
  • beer (homebrew/craft)
  • new collection: swizzle sticks and garnish sticks - you know those plastic colored sticks and swords that have fruit skewered on them in fancy drinks.
  • owls
  • agriculture/farming
  • happy mail
  • zines
  • homemade envelopes
  • clear/cling stamps (especially mail themed)
  • roller derby

  • orange, yellow, pink ... garish colors that would fit a clown
  • single use items (like those toothbrushes that you can buy in washroom vending machines)
  • knitted/crocheted washcloths (I think they are icky and would NEVER use them!)
  • stickers
  • tea, coffee, hot chocolate packages

Swap-Bot Practices

Update: Sent a make up swap for this in November 2014. Partner generously updated to rating to a 'three'.

My "one" is from May 2010. I made a mistake and signed up for something that didn't fit my personality - I was disappointed in the swap that I got and couldn't get motivated to finish and send it out. I've gotten better at choosing swaps that I will remain motivated about. Please don't hold it against me! I won't flake on any new swaps!

Rating: I don't rate hearts for extras. I rate hearts for swaps that are perfect matches for my interests/likes or swaps that make me say 'aww that's nice/cool/interesting'.

I need more security lined envelopes for mail art and for making my zines - if you send me security envelopes I'll 'heart' you!

Please be polite in the rating comments. If you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all. All my swaps meet the requirements so if you don't like how I presented it or think I should do x, y or z in a different way then simply keep it to yourself. I'm NOT offended at an empty comment - I'd much rather have that then a 'It met the requirements but I just wanted to bitch at you' comment.

Hosting: I don't angel any swaps that I host. I only host (and participate) in low cost swaps.

Comment: Thanks for your swap. I haven't read any of those books. It sounds like you enjoyed them, for the most part. Hope you are enjoying books you are reading now.
Comment: Thank you for the reading log Sarah. If Walls Could Talk sounds like a very interesting book, I really like histories of things and the home is something so important to everyone. I'm going to see if I can get a hold of it. = )

Comment: Hi Sarah - I just wanted to briefly comment (and I mean this in only a nice and helpful way) that I think you met the swap requirements, but I would have liked to hear more about what you liked/enjoyed about the books - one of your entries was only three sentences that basically said it wasn't your usual bag but a fun read. And, while that's great, it didn't tell me much about the book itself. The same goes for the four books you listed as "other books I read" but didn't tell me anything about; it was just a list. Glad to see you liked Neil Gaiman. He's amazing. He's also co-author of Good Omens, which is one of my favorites.

nataliefox rated for February mini zine on Mar 11, 2015
Comment: Thanks for the zine! I love the idea of sending some post every single day. At first I was thinking that'd cost so much, but actually, I could send the same amount in a fortnight. Thinking like that made me think about trying it myself!
