My husband and I live in Iowa, USA. We have three cats and three hamsters. The cats (Becky, Ellie, and Almanzo) live at our house. The roboski hamsters (Control, Alt, and Delete) live at our office. That way nobody eats anyone else. I like politics and am active in my local Democratic party. I love to read.
My mom is also a member of this site. Since I am named after her and I kept my last name after I married, we have almost identical names. However, we live in different states so that should cut down on the confusion.
I've started collecting postcards since joining this site and am finding that I really enjoy it. I ike pictures of places. I like buildings, bridges, and rivers. I especially like postcards that have the name of the city, state or country on it. I very much appreciate it you write more than just "hi" on it.
I've done lots of different crafts. I can crochet, but haven't been able to figure out knitting. I've done some some card making and altering, but am not really into scrapbooking. I probably would be into scrapbooking if I had cute kid pictures to scrapbook, but since I don't, I haven't gotten into it.
I do really like buttons and ribbons and some scrapbooking embellishments. Sometimes I even use them in crafts, but mostly I just like to have them. I also like stickers--espeicially the kind with no border or with a clear border.
My favorite authors are Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Chiaverini. I still love the Little House on the Prairie books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I like the Homecoming series by Orson Scott Card.
Other books I've enjoyed are: The Secret Fan by Lisa See, Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, and The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd.
I like historical fiction, science fiction and just regular fiction fiction. I'm not as crazy about fantasy.
I love fabric...big pieces and little pieces. I like most colors and patterns of fabric. I like blues and purples. I like red and white, blue and white, and black and white fabrics. I also collect brights and cat fabric. Probably my least favorite is 30's reproductions.
Mostly I buy my fabric from the quilt shop rather than from Joanns or Wal-mart because it feels nicer. I'd rather have a small piece of nice fabric than a large piece of cheep fabric. I almost never buy more than a yard of fabric; usually I buy a fat quarter or even just scraps. I do a lot of scrappy quilts.
I would also like to receive:
Cute Halloween stuff
Artist Trading Cards
Coins from other countries
Stickers
Zines
