I run a small mobile art business for children and I also design and sell doll clothes. Have two fur babies and one lovely DH and one lovely DD. I have attended 13 different universities and colleges and hold a few different degrees. I was a mental health counselor for years. But I really enjoy working for myself, so running a small business suits me. I still do some private contract mental health counseling for the elderly. I live where it is cold and gloomy in the winter, so that is when I enjoy swapping the most, as it gives me an outlet for my free time besides playing WOW. I am sorta of a Geek, as I love all things gadgety and love the newest electronics. I personally can't get into twitter, but I really do like hanging out on Facebook. I am sorta of the quiet type, so I sometimes "lurk" more than I post. While I attend church frequently I am a very open person to other people's beliefs. I feel strongly that every person has the right to believe what they feel is the best in their mind. I do not like people who judge me or who force their beliefs on me.
Cardmaking, pottery, scrapbooking and rubber stamping
I love to make and swap cards and ABC's, I have been swapping for over three years and find it so fun!
I am a potter and use to make pottery for several large theme parks and worked at a production pottery for awhile. Now I just do pottery for fun and I teach young people the art. Still have a wheel and two kilns and plenty of clay, guess I still enjoy it!
I am a bling type person!
I suffer from IBS and am lactose intolerant and I am allergic to most soap products. My stomach concerns are new to me and I am in the process of trying to sift through what I can eat and what I can not eat. So at the present time goodies are not on my "I can eat" list. If you want to send me something I can have - send me herbal tea, as at the present it is a big part of my diet.
Love mysteries - Lee Childs, John Grisham, Michael Connelly, Elmore Leonard, to name just a few. But I probably have read every book they have out.
But the following are mystery authors I would like to try and yet to read one of their books: Megan Abbott, Jennifer Harlow, R. Barri Flowers, Raymond Benson, David DeLee, Vicki Hinze & Lawrence Block. Or any new mystery author that is recently published.
I belong to two book clubs and I am a quick reader. I love books in all formats, both the paper type and the type I read on my Kobe reader or my DH's Kindle reader.
I love earth tones. My favorite color is purple, but seldom use it in crafting. Double it with green and I think it is a lovely combo. I love bling on my cards. I tend to fluctuate between a very modern style and retro with an occasional vintage one thrown in. While I tend to make cards mostly, I love altered items and do scrapbook some. I use lots of sympathy and thinking of you cards for my church. I also like holiday cards - any holiday, as I send cards for all major holidays and some minor holidays. I prefer handmade cards over store bought cards. I am perfectly fine with you leaving the inside of a handmade card blank, as a matter fact I like it better, as I can personalize it myself.
I sew for a living. I am an experienced tailor and was trained as a tailor. I now design and sew doll clothes. I love fabric of all types. However, I am only in need of small print fabric for the dolls - don't want to overpower them with a big prints. I use pink, purple and red the most, as little girls love these colors. My speciality is superhero type costumes. I was recently featured in the CHA Portfolio magazine. I love to sew and sew for others.
Hot tea is my favorite beverage. I like herbal teas, white tea (this can be either decaf or not as it is low in caffeine), robis and red teas (these can also be in caffeine or not), cocunut decaf green tea, flavored decaf black teas. My favorite brand of tea is Harney & Sons. Please no Lipton tea or tea that doesn't have a brand name written on it (been getting tea that people buy in bulk for a restaurant and not the good stuff, but the cheap freebie stuff, I land up donating this tea to the food bank - sorry I am picky). I drink a great deal of tea and there are good teas and not so good teas. Worked a summer at a tea processing factory, so have a little knowledge about teas. Cheap teas like Lipton's standard brand is often referred to as "sweepings". It is quite often literally leftover tea, after they process and bag the higher quality teas - therefore the nickname of sweepings. If you are sending me tea - one good quality tea bag, rather than five cheap tea bags is great for me. No loose tea, unless you ask me first. I love loose tea, but want to know what I am getting - not a surprise.
Favorite snack is peppermint bark candy - yum!
Things I like and would love anyone to send me:
Sewing Needs: * Thread - white and black * White single fold bias tape * Velcro - white, black, red, blue, pink * Lace - off white or white (small size), please no lace wider than 5/8 inch wide, I have no use for wider lace. Also, I do not use eyelet lace at all, so please save it for someone who can use it. I also do not use vintage lace, while it is pretty it does not fit well with the fabric I use. Also I do not use flat lace only use gathered lace. * Stick on bling - hearts, flowers, seasonal - doll size * 1/4 inch elastic - white or black
Rubberstamping and scrapbooking: * Clear or cushion mounted stamps that are atypical (no $ stamps, I literally have over a 100 sets of the $ stamps from Joann's and Mike's) * Stick-on bling * Ribbon - especially plain colors - nothing too thin - 5/8 inch is my favorite * Double sided designer paper * Pop dots
Fun items: * Collect penquins, one person teapots and salt and pepper shakers * Good brands of tea - bagged
Other likes: One of my degrees is in history and I have a passion for the time period of King Arthur. I have studied that era and did my masters thesis on that time period. But I especially love the fictional books about King Arthur and Morgan le Fey. I love the beauty and artistry. My DD's name is Morgaine and my swapbot name is morgainegeiser, all for my love of Avalon.
For my Daughter: Antique hats
Dislikes: * Stickers * Cheap tea like Lipton * Wall Art (One more framed inspiration verse and I going to scream - lol!) * Altered notepads (I must have a 100 or so of these) * Giant paperclips * $ stamps
I have recently moved and while moving I noticed I must have over 20 to-do-lists (the type in the $ bins at Michaels), a ton of blank notecards, several cd and pocket calendars, and over a 100 $ stamps. So for the time being if you can skip sending me these items it would be greatly appreciated. Have to add to the list - please don't send stained lace, rick rack, seam binding, etc. I sew for part of my income and I have to use items that look new if not new. Please note my preferences on tea above, I am picky about my tea, but like several different brands and flavors - just not standard cheap run of the mill type teas.
UPDATE 7/2011 My tea cabinet is bursting - I know this is an inexpensive profile goodie, but unless this is specifically a tea swap, please pick something else to send me (inexpensive suggestions: gummy bears, Swedish fish, white thread, thin elastic, seam binding, pretzels, thick hair elastics, pretty pens, glitter pens, glitter glue)
I am fed up with flakers and people who lie about when they mail their packages. I will call you out, so if you are going to be late, just send me a pm and be honest and we will stay friends. Liars and cheaters always get caught.
