I am coming back to swapping, in a small way, perhaps one swap at a time. Thanks for being patient with me!
artist, drawer, writer, reader, thinker, laugher, parodier, non-sequiter, spinner, knitter, collager and marker. I live on the coast, and the air is empty if it doesn't smell of salt. I teach art to small children and it is a riot (in more ways than one). I have always loved making things, scavenging, designing, exploring. I love using unlikely ephemera, drawing and painting collages. I joined this so I could spread my funky, handmade postcards across the globe.
My Aesthetic (for those who Need to Know, but I like being surprised, too, so this isn't cast in concrete)
19th Century Mechanical. Jules Verne.
Early Deco Mechanical. Tamara De Lempicka and the movie "Metropolis"
Renaissance Scientific. Andreas Vesalius
Northern Renaissance. Breughel, Van Eyck
Baroque Madness. Handel and Velasquez
Busy Town, by Richard Scarry
Things with Arches
Post-Industrial Decay
Wunderkammers
Scientific glassware
anything postal (foreign stamps, vintage postcards)
Things with intricacy, beauty and surprise usually excite me. Also anything from the 19th century and older (it was the last human-scaled epoch).
Anything directed by the Coen Brothers, Wes Anderson or Alfred Hitchcock. I especially enjoy the scripts that Billy Wilder and William Goldman wrote. The wonderful thing about cinema is that its a marriage between the best in music and language, with the best in photography and design.
Collaging, sewing, drawing, zines, DIY publishing, rubbering. Anything that allows me to have a tangible product in my hand. I love being able add drawing and paintings to things. I also enjoy attaining a high level of craft with the things I make.

May your blessings outnumber The shamrocks that grow, And may trouble avoid you wherever you go...
Hi Carmen, I am glad the post cards I made for your swap made it to you and that you liked them. Thank you sooo much for your awesome comment about them, makes me motivated to make a lot more. Also, thank you for hosting the swap, great idea!
Welcome to the Used Film Swap! :]
Thanks for the glowing review!
I have to agree with "Only in Cambodia" - your art is so personal and wondrous. The journal is just absolute perfection. I feel blessed to have been able to swap with you.
Anything created by you should be cherished. You put so much of yourself into every piece you make. Every scrap is a piece of art.
Wow! A gift from you, forget about the swapping part! An extremely unexpected and delightful surprise, you are such a dear Carmen. You are so talented, and I will enjoy your book of art every time I see it. I have shown it already to everyone around me. Your entire packet was a joy all the way around, and I appreciate it very much. I certainly look forward to further "shipped" communication between us in the future! Happy day to you, Annette
OH! And Wunderkammers! I took a class as an undergrad that focused on the whys and wherefores of collecting and Wunderkammers caught my fancy and never let go.
