I recently found out that we are expecting our first baby this winter! I am definately feeling pregnant right now and I am tired and sick most of the day. Yuck! I'm going to have to slow down on swaps for a while, at least until I get to feeling better. I will of course follow through on the swaps I'm alread in but after that I may just take a little swap vacation. We are very excited about this news!!
I do post my swaps on my Flickr page, so if you want a surprise, don't peek!
Every day I do my best to be creative and learn something new. Right now I live about 15 miles outside the second largest city in Kentucky, for me it might as well be Timbuktu. But, the love of my life is a country boy at heart and would slowly suffocate if he had to live in the city. So we now live in a rural neighborhood and are hoping to someday buy a large farm. We would like to have plenty of room to grow a bigger garden and also have goats, chickens, horses and lots of big sweetie doggies. This year in our backyard garden we have planted 19 tomato plants! I’m not sure what we are going to do with all those tomatoes so if anybody has some good canning recipes, let me know. My husband and I have also recently discovered mushroom foraging. I am Pagan but have been neglecting my spirituality recently, right now I really need to make it a priority in my life again.
We do have a small colony of lovely cats who dictate our every move. Biscuit (named so because he is brown on top and white on the bottom) who is my sweet fluffy boy. Jethro is our other little boy. He is actually about 17 pounds of fat cat love and is a big goof! Roxy is our oldest and continues to be angry with us for bringing more cats into HER house. Finally we have Little Bit, who we found in my grandmother's backyard and rescued. She has never gotten any bigger than kitten size, so I guess you can say she grew into her name...or actually she didn't grow into it. For those concerned with allergies, my craft room is in our unfinished basement and the kids aren't allowed down there. So everything should be free of kitty hair! We are also non-smokers.
In order to support my crafting and swapping addictions I have to keep a day job but have yet to figure out what it is I really want to do. As a result, I have a degree in Interior Design, a minor in Art Studio, a post-baccalaureate in Paralegal Studies and have just started work on a Masters in Health Care Administration. If I had my way I would open up a tea room and spend my days serving wonderful hot tea, scones and cute little sandwiches. I have a passion for cooking and trying out new food. I collect cookbooks and recipes from all over the world and have recently started trying the whole foods approach to cooking and have found that to be an adventure!
I love crafting and painting and aspire to be a kooky eccentric old lady dressed in a moo-moo and a floppy hat painting on the beach. Most people would probably think I’m half way there already; all I’m missing is 30 years and the wardrobe! Until then, I will continue to slave away in the corporate world looking forward to the end of the day when I can start an evening of crafting.
I also love to travel and have a list of about 60 places I still want to see. Top on that list is Russia. I'm in love with Europe and have been lucky enough to travel there twice in the last ten years. Once to attend summer school in London and again on my Honeymoon. My husband and I spent two weeks traveling by train and had the most wonderful experiences. I love to read National Geographic and learn about any new culture, animal, discovery, etc.
PLEASE NOTE
I live in a rural neighborhood so I send my swaps from work in the city but receive them at home. If I don't get my package when you think I should it is probably held up somewhere. When I get it, I PLEDGE to rate!
music from Brazil, France and Italy. I love to theme dinners around a CD or culture and I am always on the look out for new sounds from all over the world! I will also listen to everything from Ella Fitzgerald to NIN.
Click here to listen to some of my favorite types of music. This is what I play at work to keep from slipping into contract review legal ease oblivion. They also have some really neat things to buy!
mystery, horror, suspense...I will read anything I can get my hands on. Some of my favorite books and authors include: Harry Potter books, Neil Gaiman (Coraline and The Graveyard Book and would love to start on The Sandman series when I get the chance), Sarah Addison Allen (Garden Spells and The Sugar Queen), Nevil Shute (A Town Like Alice), Sherrilyn Kenyon (Dark-Hunter series), Gideon Defoe (The Pirates! series), Charlaine Harris (Southern Vampire Mysteries), Cornelia Funke (Inkheart trilogy), Saki short stories, which tend to creep me out (Sredni Vashtar and The Interlopers are a couple of my favorites) and many others.
All time favorite movie is Chocolat.
Mistress of Spices, Pulp Fiction, Muppets movies, Walking Tall, Harry Potter movies, The Mummy, Pitch Black, The Fifth Element, Dracula, Pan's Labyrinth, Clue, most any Science Fiction or horror movie.
TV programs:
Anything on Food Network especially Jamie Oliver and Nigella Lawson, Chopped, Hell's Kitchen, True Blood, The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, How I Met Your Mother.
all sorts of things. I love ATCs, altered art, collage, polymer clay, knitted items (which I can't make), stuffies (which I'm not that good at), Dotee dolls (recently), stamping, painting, the list keeps growing. I enjoy trying new things and spend a good part of the day looking up new craft ideas to try out.
I especially like nature themed items, if that makes any sense.

um, just about anything. I love to do food swaps! Here are some things I really like:

anything about new cultures and places to visit. Here are some of my favorite places. I would be super excited if you told me a little something about where you live traditional festivals, foods, crafts, clothing, etc. I'm always up for a souvenir swap.
