Teacher, runner, writer, coffee addict, and paper fiend. I'm 33 years old, living in the beautiful mountains of Western NC. I've lived in a lot of places, but Asheville feels like my home.
I'm looking for meaningful penpal friendships with other thoughtful, like-minded gals & guys. I'm liberal, open-minded, well read & educated, and love to talk with other folks who are too.
I appreciate local music, dancing to 80s music, & reading in coffee shops. I exercise and take care of myself, but I'm not afraid to stop for ice cream or a cupcake now and then.
I love to make cards, envelopes, gift tags and journals out of old book pages, sheet music, maps and any other interesting paper.
Themes I enjoy: Woodland animals (owls, foxes, birds, porcupines, snails, etc), penguins & sea otters, elephants, moon & stars, vintage items, red & blue airmail envelopes.
Favorite color combos: Blue & green, teal & grey, black, white & gold.
I have a personal size paperchase (filofax-esque) planner, and would love goodies for that. Dividers, dashboards, inserts, page markers, paper clips, etc.
While I prefer to receive goodies that suit my personal tastes listed above, I also collect goodies for my elementary school kiddos such as reward stickers and small prize box trinkets. These sorts of things always come out of a teacher's personal budget, so these extras would be much appreciated.
I love citrus & fruit teas, spiced apple/orange, fruity green teas, & most black teas. My all time favorite - coconut chai!
I like my postcards sent naked, no envelope, stamped and written on. If you can't think of anything to write, include your favorite quote, a song lyric, or a book recommendation.
I usually prefer store-bought postcards over handmade. Quirky, weird, silly, artsy, vintage, or typographic postcards preferred over tourist cards.
Music: City & Colour, The War on Drugs, The Decemberists, Margot and the Nuclear So and So's, Dr. Dog, mewithoutYou, Father John Misty, Iron & Wine, The Avett Brothers, The Tallest Man on Earth, Red Sparowes, Bon Iver, Kurt Vile,
Movies: Garden State, Eternal Sunshine, 500 Days of Summer, Good Will Hunting, Stranger Than Fiction, High Fidelity, Better Off Dead, Away We Go, V For Vendetta.
Books: The Wildwood Series, 1984, Brave New World, Animal Farm, The Tao of Pooh, Cat's Cradle, The Catcher in the Rye, Lord of the Flies, The Giver, The Handmaid's Tale, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Art of Racing in the Rain, Pride & Prejudice & Zombies.
I do not collect ATCs and I'm not interested in swapping Friendship Books or label/sticker bags.
I also dislike swaps that are clearly thrown together at the last minute or without any care. Plain white envelopes, sloppy handwriting, bare minimum = no heart. I give hearts very easily. I don't need a ton of extras, just the inclination that you took your time and at least skimmed over my profile.
Another big pet peeve... it's STATIONERY. Not stationary. They mean two different things. I'm a grammar snob and not afraid to admit it.
I mark my swaps as sent as soon as they are in my mailbox, never before. If I need to send late I will send you a message. Also, I understand that life happens. If you need to send a swap late, just let me know. I'm not a stickler for postmarks.
Postmarks: Asheville does not have a mail sorting center, so I've noticed my mail goes to Greenville, SC before it receives a postmark. This means that my sent-by date and the postmarked date may be different.
Postage: I often weigh my letters at home using a small scale and add my own postage. If for any reason a swap comes postage-due, please let me know so I can make it up to you!
If you don't receive a swap from me, please message me before rating. I have never flaked on a swap and don't plan to do so.
Finally, we're here to have fun and to spread a little love, joy & beauty in this world. Let's not take ourselves so seriously that we can't keep swap-bot a fun, peaceful place. Happy swapping, friends!
