About Me

I'm a 40-something marketing professional with a teen-age daughter, 4 dogs, 2 cats and a list of things I'd like to do, see and attempt long enough to last me into my 100s!! I am a temporary (12 years now) Texas resident - have lived in ND, AZ, WA, OR and TX and imagine I'll head back west when I'm able to move just for me, not the job - or back north by family, if global warming removes snow from the landscape. I dream of seeing water from my windows...

Favorite Crafts

QUILTS My primary creative outlet - besides managing ad campaigns at work - is quilting. I learned to sew clothing as a young girl (hate it) but took a quilting class on a whim and found a new passion.

I mix it up between traditional patchwork, applique (needle-turn, mostly) and am venturing into the world of art quilts a little at a time with miniatures and inchies.

Quilting loves: *Saturated colors
*Contemporary fabric designs
*Asian fabrics (but not the anime-like stuff)
*30's fabric in small to medium doses
*Mark Lipinski
*Vintage - think Fig Tree in repro world, 30s - 50s in era

but I really loathe:
*Civil War repros
*Primitive / Country styles

Other Creative Outlets

I enjoy dabbling a lot - woodwork, paints, paper craft. I'm fascinated by art journals and toy with the idea of blogging. For now, I pick up new or different crafts that sound appealing in short bites to try and see if they stick ... one reason why I'm drawn to some swaps!

I reuse packaging.

Why I'm Here

Between work, being a single parent and day to day life, I feel like my circle has shrunk. I like the idea of doing different things that intersect with people all over the world -- I believe that serendipity is a major force for good and think this site channels it like few things I've seen!

Assorted Likes / Dislikes

Lists are only the tip of the iceberg - I am sure there are thousands of things I really really like but just don't know about yet! If you're sending something, it's most important that you think it's a cool thing to send and it's not one of the few dislikes rather than hunting for "what I like" ... intention counts the most!

Likes:
Cats
Dogs
Books - mostly light supernatural, mystery and some chick lit - plus I listen to books during my very long commute each day
Old keys
Unique buttons
Shelf gnomes
Vintage (50s) Christmas ornaments
Unique jewelry
Vintage and hand-crafted
Choco-cat
Lilacs

Dislikes:
Anything 100% pastel
Primitive (as in folk or country) art
Masks - totally creepy
Mardi Gras (and most other crowds)
Smelly stuff (lotion, soap, candles, etc) - other than lilac/vanilla I hate them all

OHMYGODYOUSENTMODA ::deep breath:: Oh. My. God. This is an insane amount of fabric. I'm a little dazed. You sent me an entire stack of Moda charm squares. ::gibbers quietly in a corner for a while:: Thank you so. much. You have no idea how much this made my day. Seriously. I accidentally stood up a coworker for a working meeting this afternoon and was feeling really low and mortified, and then this appears in my mailbox. Thank you. ♥

Thank you for the stamps for the 'I Collect...' Tag! :)

GuineverePhantom on Aug 31, 2009:

I am so happy you enjoy the stamps... I hope you liked my envelope and letter as well. :) I was worried you might not like the international stamps, but I took a plunge for it anyway since you're American. You see American stamps all the time, so I thought you might like to see stamps from other countries. I'm glad you like them!
