Hi. I'm a 27 year old postgrad student in Scotland. I love pretty much any kind of music and books, and enjoy getting to know people all over the world.
I'm also a member of postcrossing and sendsomething.net, because I love sending postcards and letters (I love receiving them too - there's something very nice about getting some proper mail through the letterbox).
I love having penpals, so if you'd like to swap letters on a regular basis, let me know.
I speak French and Swedish, and can understand written Danish, Norwegian, Spanish and Italian.
I've very very recently started making postcards and ATCs, despite being completely unartistic. Still, I'm having a lot of fun trying and hopefully before too long I'll make some that are good enough to actually be worth sending!
I'm also enjoying making notecards and am getting very into stamping (I think that's the term...).
I'm also very much enjoying making envelopes - if there's a more relaxing task, I have yet to find it...
Oh, and if you're reading this because you've got me as a partner in a swap that involves food, I have no allergies although I am vegetarian.
CLASSICAL: Alfven, Beethoven, Chopin, Crusell, Elgar, Kalivoda, Poulenc, Rachmaninov, Rautavaara, Tchaikovsky
NON-CLASSICAL: Adiemus (Karl Jenkins), The Barry Sisters, Billie The Vision & The Dancers, The Cliks, Corner Stone Cues, Emiliana Torrini, Golem!, Gotan Project, Hem, The Klezmatics, Lorraine Feather, Lost In The Trees, Marit Larsen, Pine Leaf Boys, Rabbinical School Dropouts, Sarah Shannon
More generally, my favourite genres include: Classical from the romantic and early modern periods, Klezmer, Showtunes (tacky, I know, but true), 1940s type swing and big-band, Rock 'n' roll
I'll read pretty much anything, but my favourite books of all time are probably:
Waterland (Graham Swift),
A Tall Man In A Low Land (Harry Pearson),
Goodnight Mr Tom (Michelle Magorian)
Other books I really like include: Archangel (Sharon Shinn), Around The Houses (Amanda Boulter), Du och jag, Marie Curie (Annika Ruth Persson), Ender's Game (Orson Scott Card), Everything Is Illuminated (Jonathan Safran Foer), The Happy Prince and other stories (Oscar Wilde), The History Of Love (Nicole Krauss), Landet Utanför (Maria Gripe), Les Mots Pour Le Dire (Marie Cardinal), Perfect Skin (Nick Earls), Smalltown Antichrist (Iain Grant), Soul Kiss (Shay Youngblood), To Kill A Mockingbird (Harper Lee)
At the moment I'm mostly reading sci-fi and fantasy, along with true crime (especially anything to do with forensic psychology) and non-fiction about WWII
10 Things I Hate About You, Addams Family Values, The Broken Hearts Club, Chaos (the French one, not the horror one), Drop Dead Gorgeous, Keeping The Faith, Kind Hearts & Coronets, Lawless Heart, Life of Brian, Romy & Michele's High School Reunion, Sidewalks of New York, Tillsammans, When Harry Met Sally, While You Were Sleeping
Band of Brothers, Battlestar Galactica, Black Books, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, The Daily Show, Dharma & Greg, ER, Father Ted, Frasier, Maid Marian & Her Merry Men, Numb3rs, Sleeper Cell, The Sopranos, Spooks, Stargate SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis, The West Wing, The Wire, Without A Trace
Sets of writing paper & matching envelopes (I can't seem to get enough of them, however many I buy),
recipe books (especially the small, cheap local ones - made to raise money for schools and charities),
recipe cards (the free ones you can pick up at supermarkets),
cats,
chocolate (absolutely any type except the stuff that's flavoured with chilli flakes),
notebooks of handmade paper,
funny postcards,
black & white postcards,
notecards,
learning languages,
analysing dreams,
tea (especially black tea flavoured with fruits - it's really hard to get here but I used to drink it all the time when I lived in Sweden, and really miss it now),
meditation,
massage,
anything Wicca-related,
feminism,
Amnesty International,
used stamps (I use them for decorating notecards)...
crafty things for making notecards with (brads, die cutters, rubber stamps and so on),
probably lots more things that I can't think of right now...
18 Oct - "Michigan at night" postcard received from Jewelstonefly. No swap name on it (though there was a 'postage due' stamp!) so couldn't register it.
21 Oct - "Bridge of the Gods - Cascade Locks" postcard received from Jenny. No swap name on it, though.
24 Oct - "Board of Directors" card with photo of donkeys from Ozaka (stamp saying 'mommascrapbooksATyahoo) but no swap name.
08 Nov - B&W photo from 'Elliott Erwitt Snaps' from osman1985. No swap name.
14 Nov - San Francisco postcard with recipe for pumpkin waffles written on the back. Sent by missapoo but with no swap title.
I don't like liquorice or aniseed, or anything flavoured with them.
I don't wear make-up (including nail-polish) or jewellery.
I don't have a bath, so can't use any nice bath stuff (though anything for the shower is welcome).

Thank you for being an "angel" & helping out on the AuntieM swaps!!
Thank you for the Christmas candies from the Edibles Group tag. They look delicious! It's tempting to eat them all while the children are napping. :-) Thanks for sharing!
Received your letter (letter of my life tag)!! L.O.V.E.D. it and WILL write back!! Will ask for a bit a patience though :o) youngest son has been in and out of hospital.
Hi Hannah! Your card arrived today. It turned out really well! Love the texture of the papers, too. I've done some quilting but not since I started doing postcards. Love the thrill of the quick hit... Boo

Thank you for the "Something local" you send me. The Ghost Tours look really cool. =] I would like to try that but I think I'd be too scared. Lol. I'm a big wuss like that. =] Thanks bunches! =]
goodness me. thank you very much for the profile cram you sent me, I know you struggled with my profile. Im terrible like that due to being a bit of a fantasy Roleplay addict. But you really took time and effort to make it work for me.
The herbs you sent me were lovelly. I was in fear for my life when I opened a small corner and could smell them, I was like oh noes! potouri! sandlewood is that strong. But they were all lovelly, when I got to see them. Those tiny candles too, they are brilliant.
Oh and the post cards you sent me are now on the wall, thank you thank you thank you! that tag really deserved a heart.
