Comment: Hi Christiane, You got it absolutely right again! That was a wonderful choice of books to send. I do know de Stael, but only Corinne -- I must confess I didn't know that she had published a travelogue. And since some of my academic work is on travel writing, and much of my research has been during the period 1770-1830, this is obviously a must-read for me! The rest of the parcel was a delight as well. I love the notebook and keyring -- although I won't use the notebook as a travel diary! One of the problems about researching travel writing is that it makes one far too self-conscious about one's only travel writing -- when I've tried to do it, I've found myself adding copious footnotes for future historians! But I will find another good use for it. Thank you too for the interesting variety of chocolates and sweets from around the world and the long letter. The post office managed to rip a several inch long hole in the bottom seam of the box, but I don't think anything was missing!

Oh, and to answer your question, while I have a basic understanding of and interest in graphology, I'm just a handwriting voyeur--I love to see the many different ways people can create the same letters. :) By the way, the ink you used looks like an ink I just got called 'Antietam' made by Noodler's Ink.

And e-mail swaps are my least favorite too, although the book club swap(e-mail) from Carpe Librum is fun I think. I have been to Gent as well, and it is such a beautiful city... I LOVE all the Belgian cities I have been to. Comment: Received! Thanks so much for the books. I read The Princess Bride back in 1995 or 1996, so it's been a while. And I've never seen one with this cover before--what a neat thing to find in my mailbox. I really want to re-read it now, after all these years. I know the movie by heart, word-for-word, so I had a little trouble with the book as it varied a bit. But now that it's been a while, it might be easier. And I feel SHAME to admit I have never read a single Vonnegut. It's been on my list to read one some time, so this must be the sign I needed, with this book falling into my lap. Thanks so much for the books and selection!

I'm a lover of fantasy as well (though you couldn't tell by my reading selections last week. :)) I've been meaning to pick up Game of Thrones for awhile - I've read some other things by George R.R. For your possible tattoo you said Augenblick literary it´s "glance of the eye") and my last words were "Hepi" meaning "open ones eyes". If you love Macbeth (my favorite too) you should watch Scotland, PA a modern take that's actually really good.

The historical facts and the origin of the name is correct. just we don't eat cats and dogs, they are pets, in the past, some chinese didn't treat dogs as pets so they eat them, it's very rare now, at least people don't see them in Hong Kong. Is it because you're living in a rural place so you think HK is a fairytale to you? I want to live in a place which is more rural, it's crowded here. =)

Comment: I got my letter a couple of days ago, but didn't actually open it until today, when I had time to sit down and read it. Your map is absolutely wonderful. I wish I could make maps that lovely! And the seal on the letter was such a lovely touch, although it did make it a little difficult to open without ripping the paper, I loved it.

Comment: Mushroom postcards are rare... but they do exist. For example their is a town in Michigan known for morel mushrooms so I have one of their postcards. I think Bill Bryson is hilarious, but I couldn't get through "Notes from a Small Island". It's the only book of his I didn't like. His humor might be an acquired taste though. Thanks for the postcard!
