Comment: You did an AMAZING job on Yennifer! Her hair is so neat. That dress is fantastic. I want one just like it. I'm so thrilled to have her. Thank you so much for Yennifer and for doing this swap with me!
Response: I'm glad you like her! It was so fun sewing all the little details and the eyes were unexpectedly fun as well! Thank you for doing this swap with me, it was super fun!
Perhaps we'll give it another shot when the world is a little less wild!
Comment: Thank you for my patch which arrived today so it didn't take that long to get here even with the restrictions! It's really lovely and I like the way you have accentuated the birds on the fabric.
Response: I'm glad it made it to you swiftly! It was a fun patch to work on. :)
Comment: Thank you so much for the gorgeous patch! And for hosting this too, I was surprised how much fun I had with making mine and hope to try it again in the future. I'm not sure what I will do with mine yet but I feel it will be inspiration to create a new notebook cover or bag. The color scheme is perfect for me :-)
Response: Ahh! I'm so happy you like it, choosing all the colors was a fun challenge! I like the idea of making a notebook cover or tote. I'd love to see what you make in the future!
Comment: Thank you so much for your adorable Bento Bag. I am so happy I am part of this swap. And I feel so lucky to have you as my sending partner. The fabric you picked is absolutely fantastic. I love the bright colors and the bird pattern so much. Thanks for your lovely note card as well. Would love to do more sewing swaps, it's my passion ლ ✿(◕‿◕)✿ ✂ Have a wonderful 2020 !!
Response: I'm so happy you like it! I had a ton of fun with this swap from picking out the fabrics to stitching it all together. I hope you get plenty of good use out of it!
I hope to swap more sewing projects with you in the new year!
Comment: You have no idea how thrilled I am that you sent me a cat patch. I have designated a denim jacket for all my cat related patches and pins, and the one you sent will look fabulous on there. Thank you so much! :)
Response: I'm impressed how quick the patch made it your way and I'm so happy to hear you like it! I had so much fun making this for you and i'd LOVE to see a picture of it mixed in with everything on your denim jacket!
Comment: Megan, what a beautiful job you did on this! It is truly the world's sweetest needle book! I love the fabrics you chose, and the ways you combined them...thank you so much, wish I could give you a million hearts!
Response: I'm so glad you like it! It was such a wonderful little project to work on and I hope you are able to use it for years to come!
Comment: The pickles look delicious -- I wish I was there to try them! I wonder why they softened ... you seem to have done absolutely everything so precisely and to have remembered everything. But great swap and great description and photos -- thank you!
Comment: Great postcard and playlist! I like a few songs by Nickel Creek. Thanks for hosting a fun swap!
Response: I had never heard of Nickel Creek until my girlfriend told me about them, and then I realized Chris Thile was also in the Punch Brothers!
Glad you enjoyed the swap, I hope to host more like it come fall! :)
Comment: Great recipe postcard (although sadly the post office treated it rather roughly .... I cannot work out what they were doing!!) I'm really enjoying seeing your various digital experiments as we continue to swap together.
Response: Oh no! I'm happy to send you the digital file if you'd like to see it in a more pristine state!
I've really enjoyed doing these digital swaps together, its fun to see how we approach different prompts!
Comment: What a fun postcard! Thanks for your foodie note! Asian foods are my fave and we just had Korean bbq the other night! If you haven't tried it, do it! It's just fabulous! Thanks again for the swap!
Response: Oof, I LOVE Korean BBQ. We always go while we are in NYC. We have a few places in Boston we need to try out though!
Comment: Sorry for the delay in rating and I will be updating this with a heart when the system decides it wants to load properly. :)
I loved that Minnesota made you smile. It's near the Mississippi River and smells like a factory some days, but city life... lol.
Thanks so much for a great swap! If you want to send me that rain you're having, I'm so happy to take it all. :D xo♥
Response: I'm glad the card made it to you, I was getting a little worried, lol!
I miss Minnesota a lot sometimes now that i'm here on the East Coast, so seeing little 'ol Minnesota Ave made me smile. I'll do my best to send some rain your way! :)
Comment: Your washi holder is adorable!!! Did you just use tape to cover it? I couldn't even tell until you told me you wish you had a laminator. Love the cactus washi! <3
Response: I'm so glad you like it, I had so much fun busting out the water colors again! I got away with only having to overlap two pieces of packaging tape per side making the overlapped edge barely visible. It was quite nerve wracking, but worth it!
I'm glad you like the cactus washi, its one of my favorites!
Comment: This swap was such fun to take part in -- thank you for hosting it! And I absolutely love your loon. Beautifully done, and I very much like the effect of the white lines in the background. I'm looking forward to next month's swap!
Response: I'm so happy you like my loon! I don't think i've put that much time and effort into an Illustrator project since university, ha!
Comment: I love your Mr Universe! And I know what you mean about software updates -- I reckon they sometimes add as much as half the time again to a project. Great work and thanks for joining the swap.
Response: Thank you! I swear they never change anything except for how the work space is laid out! As soon as I start getting used to it it changes, ha!
Comment: Thank you very much. This was a very interesting recipe. I've never heard of a dish like this and I'm thinking about trying it. (I'm very picky eater...hahahahaha) My husband definitely wants me to make this . :)
Response: I totally get you, I’m a rather picky eater myself! I certainly think it can be customized & it won’t suffer much from swapping some ingredients. I definitely recommend trying it if you have the chance, or if anything try it in a restaurant if possible before committing!
Let me know if you make it!
Comment: What a great response to the swap task! I very much enjoyed reading your account of the process and might well try the recipe myself one of these days. Thank you for hosting the swap -- such a good idea.
Response: Its a fun recipe to try if you don't mind being in the kitchen for about 1.5 hours. Its great if you need something warm & hearty, I hope you get the chance to try it out!
I'm also glad you enjoyed the swap, I had so much fun! I look forward to hosting part two soon!
Comment: Haha, I love this postcard and your note, thanks bunches!! I want to visit the east coast someday, it looks gorgeous. So rare to find another VB fan, too, yay! I'm going to send you a friend request because I plan on starting a nerd/ pop culture group eventually, and you sound like a good fit if that's your style of entertainment. All the best! <3 Jessie
Response: I'm glad you liked the card! The East Coast is absolutely beautiful, I've really enjoyed my time out here.
Lets keep in touch!
Comment: Thank you for the Japanese Curry recipe. I could definitely think to try this recipe if only I get the time some day. Do you think it would work with tofu as protein?
I've never thought of storing roux to be used later, so that was a good tip too!
Response: I think an extra firm tofu added in the last 15 minutes or so would be great or fried "katsu" style.
I think you would have even better luck with seitan for either frying or adding directly to the sauce like the chicken is in the original recipe.
Comment: Yes! You sent to me an excellent PC for the swap - misty - moody picture of a Black Cat in a mysterious setting. I like this PC as it reminds me of how I love to create ATCs, PCs, mail art for Halloween swaps using images of Black cats. This PC is inspiring, I'm saving it for my Halloween collection. I love cats but sadly I'm allergic to them. My sister bought me a large Disney Cat character as my "apt pet," I have large toy stuffed Disney "Cheshire Cat" in my bedroom.
Response: I'm so glad you liked the PC, its one of my favorites that i've found in a tiny stationary/gift shop I like.
I hope it gives plenty of inspiration for Halloween, its never to early to get our spooky on!
Comment: Just received the journal, thumbed through it and read the first few questions....love the way it's put together and I can already tell that we have so much in common it's pretty scary! Since it will take me a while to read through this all I wanted to rate you now. I'll PM you once I'm done going through it all. Thanks for a great journal!
Response: I'm glad it made to you all in once piece, this was my first journal swap so i've been stressed about it! I hope you enjoy reading through it. :)
Comment: Super cute unicorns, postcard and letter! I dint knew so much about Keith Haring, thank you for sharing it with me. Who knows, one day maybe you can get an original piece! Please, host more swaps like this, I´m really interested. Have a really nice day :)
Response: I'm glad you enjoyed the swap! I'll be sure to host more when I get back from my mini-hiatus!
Comment: Thank you for the amazing washi samples! I also like the blue with white star one--I am definitely using it in my bullet journal next month! Thank you for the Pusheen extras--much appreciated!
Response: I'm glad you liked them, I LOVE geometric washi! :)
Comment: Thank you for sharing so openly. I love that you have your blanket from childhood. I don’t really have anything special from childhood.
Response: I did a lot of self reflection in this swap, its been so interesting reading others answers as well.
I love that blanket dearly even though its starting to tatter and fray at the edges. I hope to "reverse-engineer" it so I can weave a duplicate of it someday!
Comment: Thank you so much for your very open answers! I have something personal to say, but in email. Your work sounds super interesting. Anyone who has "devices and prototypes" laying around sounds like much fun! Your reference book sounds great - I had a psychiatric diagnosis book I rescued from a foundation I worked at when they purged, and it had a hilarious bunch of things as "disorders" that are now considered completely normal and acceptable. And the hysteria, that was in there. Its description sounded like "a woman who is severely sick of the fu**ing men in her life trying to rule her," but like it was a bad thing. Anyway, I enjoyed reading your stuff, and thanks for sharing!
Response: I look forward to your message!
It is such a funky book to look through and it gives a real look at the medicine (if you could call it that) at the time. I'm glad you enjoyed the answers, this was a really fun swap to participate in!
Comment: Thanks so much for your answers. :) I lived in ND for about 5 years, on the MN boarder, and had a good laugh at your use of 'Ufda!" :) Haven't heard that in years. :) Hope your move goes well. :)
Response: Ha! I'm glad you got a good laugh, now that I live in Mass. I get quite the confused look when I let out an exasperated "uffda"!
The move has gone great so far, thanks for the well wishes!
Comment: Dear Megan.
Thank you!! Shiitake mushrooms are one of my most favorite foods ever!!! I cannot wait to try this recipe.
Response: I made them just the other day for supper and man do they satisfy every time! Plus, you can swap out the sauces you use depending on the mood. I've made some super delicious sticky garlic shiitakes too! (I can send you the recipe if you'd like!)
Comment: Wow, your pdf looks great! i wish I knew how to do this. ^^; The pics are great, too. Seems like you live in a beautiful area. In my place it was super hot, too. What works best for me is just taking a shower. I have super long hair, and when wet it cools me down just perfectly. Thank you for sharing your day!
Response: Thanks! I compiled it in Photoshop & Adobe Acrobat, although I wish I had a better camera!
Cool showers or if i'm feeling indulgent - a cool bath always help beat the heat for a bit!
Comment: Thanks for your playlist! A lot of the songs that you shared are new to me and I have enjoyed listening to them!! I think my husband may have played the Cuphead game, I will have to check with him to see how well he liked it.
Response: I'm glad you have been enjoying the playlist! I love exploring new genres, and this swap is the perfect excuse. I'm jealous of your husband, Cuphead looks like so much fun!
Comment: Thank you for the ATC and stamps. It made my day. The time and effort you put into creating it shows. You are very talented. Your gargoyle made me smile.
Response: I'm happy that you enjoy the ATC! It was a super fun theme to illustrate and thank you for the compliment. I studied design in university so ATCs are the perfect way for me to continue practicing and sharing art! :)
Comment: Thank you so much for the playlist, I had a lot of fun listening to it! I think I only knew 1 song on there, it's so much fun hearing new music. Thank you!
(I'm really sorry for the late rating, your mail got stuck in my spam)
Response: I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the playlist! That's the best part about this swap, getting to share and find some new jams! Also, no worries on the late rate, i'm just glad it made it to you eventually! :)
Comment: Hello! I received the package today. All tea bags you sent are new to me. I'm so glad I can try some new tea :) I also love your card, washi tapes and beautiful stamps. Thank you so much for everything!
Response: I'm glad to hear the package arrived and you have some new teas to try. It was a lot of fun figuring out which teas to send! :)
Comment: This is very creative-I have never gotten an ATC like this one before with the layers and a powerful image. Thanks also for the wonderful black cat note card(love my black kitty-Lenore) and the added Halloween washi tape . Thanks for sharing with me!
Response: I'm glad you enjoyed the ATC. I love experimenting with new styles when I can. (Also, hello Lenore!)
Comment: I really enjoyed going through your playlist! Some of the songs I recognized, some were new. The Safety Dance and Private Eyes are classics! A couple of my new favorites include Dream and Home We'll Go(Take My Hand). Thank you for the wonderful playlist! :)
Response: I'm glad you enjoyed the playlist! To this day I still can't get The Safety Dance unstuck from my head!
Comment: Thank you for sharing your playlist. I look forward to checking out the songs and podcasts I'm not familiar with. Congrats on your upcoming graduation!
Response: I hope you find something new you enjoy! I listen to a majority of the "How Stuff Works" network of podcasts and I highly recommend them all! Thank you for the well wishes as my undergraduate career winds down! :)
Comment: How cool is the subject of your studies! I like classical music as well. Thank you for your great podcast suggestions: I enjoy listening to podcasts too.
Have a great day and good luck with your studies!
Response: Thank you! It has been a fun field to explore and develop in. Classical music is such a good way for me to focus since it gives me the lyrical nature of music, without me having to focus to hard on actual lyrics themselves. Thank you for the best wishes!
Comment: I love your letter- oh and the rainbow envelope! Where did you find the rainbow envelope? Anyway it was awesome to connect with you- and I would like to keep in touch. I'm not always great about keeping up with penpals but we could also set up a private swap sometime- once its on my dashboard and I have a deadline I know I'll follow through on it :) I identify as pansexual... that's the accurate term. I honestly squirm when the term "bisexual" is used to describe me (even though I use it sometimes because it's a well known/ more mainsteam term that I don't have to explain to people...)... but "bisexual" honestly doesn't describe my experience as I have been attracted to so many partners along a spectrum, who really don't fit into a binary. I've had a lot of variety lol.
Comment: I. Am. Loving. Your. Playlist!
So many new (to me) songs that I'm enjoying! Thanks for putting a playlist together on Spotify. I'm adding several of your picks to my own heavy rotation for February!
Response: I'm glad you dig the music! I've been trying to branch out from my usual as of late! :)
Comment: Love the list Megan sent me! A nice mix of some obscure songs, some more mainstream. Am definitely going to have to check out some of the songs I don't know! Awesome swapper. Totally met (and exceeded) swap guidelines.
Response: I'm happy to hear you like the list! It's an odd mix, but I hope you find a new favorite! :)
Comment: Firstly rated as a 3 as you didn' use BCC when emailing as it was a swap requirement. Edit 2 Jan. 2017: I'm turning this into 5 because you apologised for it. Plus, you haven't got any other low ratings so being a good swapper helps in each case. Take care.
Response: Thank you so much for understanding, it really mean a lot to me. Happy Swapping!
Comment: Thank you. I truly enjoyed going through your playlist. I listened to and/or watched a video for each selection (when available). I'll definitely be adding some new material to my IPOD. Thanks for sharing!
Response: I'm SO happy to hear that you really enjoyed my list! This swap is such a great way to connect with people through music! :)
Comment: I FREAKING LOVE THIS ATC. It's beautiful. I'm not religious, but it is so touching and I love that it harkens back to the iconography of the middle ages (I teach APAH). Thanks for an awesome swap - now, I am off to find some of that nifty gold thread to use in my work. :)
Response: I'm really happy you like it! It was actually partially inspired by tarot cards and some historical art sources (i'm not religious myself, but I do love me some old school religious iconography). Gold thread can be SO finicky, but the finished results are always fun. I wish you luck! :)
Comment: ThAnk YoU! Most are new to me :) I like all different kinds of music! Good for you! Learning is fun and challenging, you'll never question why you went to collage, it's one of the best times in your life, LIVE IT! lol
Comment: Hi Megan thanks for the kind words - I sort of enjoy my SB ID. I haven't made any headway in the crafty endeavors but it's on my list. I'm trying to get my Postcards and Photos organized first and letters caught up, then I'll give it a try. My sister is retiring in a month & maybe we'll do some stitching together. She's very good. Hope your Christmas was great and that the New Year brings only good things to you. Chris crispycritter
Response: I hear you on getting organized & caught up before embarking on something new! :)
I hope you and your sister are able to stitch and sew a lot in the new year. I had a lovely christmas and I hope you had the same, Happy New Year!
Comment: I know this swap was a total pain in the ass for you, and I so appreciate your time and effort! Thank you for the labels, and for going the extra mile ;) Will totally swap with you anytime man!!
Response: Thank you for the heart, you were so patient with me you could be nominated for sainthood! Maybe once school goes on break we could get another swap in, it was fun swapping with you!
Comment: Thank you for the wonderful letter, it was a pleasure getting to know you. I would have sworn my own daughter wrote it except she's in high school, same views and beliefs and even wants to get into the same field of work. Oh, and I love your plants.
Response: Oop! Thank you for such a lovely comment! I wish your daughter the best of luck, apparel/costume is challenging, but so much fun!
Since this swap my plant collection has increased by eight, what can I say, i'm a plant person!
Comment: Thank you so much for the resend when the first poem got lost somewhere in the wilds of the post office. I love the bells you used to bind the poem and the hot chocolate. The poem you sent is awesome! I really like it starts out so happy and light and jingle bells! And then slowly turns dark and sinister and we end up with moaning and groaning. Totally a Poe type of poem!
Response: Whoop! I know I talked to you over pm, but thank you for agreeing to do the swap with me! I loved your poem and tea and I had a lot of fun making the little book!
Comment: Oh such a delightful chickadee! They are some of my favorites, too, 'specially in winter, when they get so puffy and plump! I love the beautiful hand-stitching! Felt is one of my favorite mediums, also! And Howdy! Neighbor! I lived in your city for several yrs, way back in the olden days!
Comment: You did a wonderful job with this swap, and I so appreciate the great narrative to accompany your photos! I have always wanted to go to MOA and I'm not even a shopper!! Thanks for the great tour, and good luck with your internship.
Comment: Thank you for the PC and sweet note. I would love to see pictures of some of your designs if you ever want to share! But I must ask, what is the story behind your swap name??????
Response: I'm glad my card made it to you safe and sound! I would be more than happy to share some photos of my designs with you. Send me a private message with your email and I can send you some! :)
The story behind my swap name is a silly one. I identify as non-binary (not strictly male or female "binary") and I find myself dressing mostly androgynous or masculine. Some may call this "cross dressing" or "drag". I also love deer and they are one of my favorite animals, with the stag typically representing masculinity. So all in all they all tie to together as "StagKing" a play on "Drag King".
Quite the complicated little backstory, but I think it suits me well! :)
Comment: Thanks for sharing...have you tried this? The basil is a lil odd but I'd try it at least once lol
Response: I have! It's one of my favorite drinks to make when strawberries go on sale. The basil does sound odd, but it really adds a bold twist that I personally rather enjoy. However if you don't like basil it is also just as good without it!
Comment: Hi Megan! Thank you so much for the lovely letter that you sent to me! You are so busy with school and work, I wonder how you have time for yourself, not alone writing a nice letter to someone that really needed a reason to smile today...
((Hugs!)) ~Carol Ann~
Response: Carol, i'm glad I could make you smile! My schedule keeps me busy, but whenever I come home to a swap in the mail it makes it all a bit easier! Thank you for being an awesome and understanding partner!
Comment: Hello Megan! On the tator tot casserole I am able to substitute vegan crumbles. So, it is still useable! I will use the bread recipe when I have time. Also, the caramel sounds delicious. Thank you for the cardinal sticker (they are my favorite)! Happy swapping!
Response: I'm glad you can still get a taste of Minnesota, its one of the few hotdishes I actually enjoy so I hope you and your family will like it too! The bread and caramels have never failed on me and I hope you too enjoy them! c:
Comment: Thank you so much, Megan! I love your letter, and your recipe for mug cookies looks so awesome! I used to make mug lava cake, which has the advantage of only requiring 3 ingredients: egg, 1/4 cup powedered sugar, and a tablespoon (or more if you like) of cocoa powder. Nuke for about a minute or so until it's all spongy on top, and mmmmmmmmmmm! Chocolate melty goodness :) And I ~*LOVE*~ the Jiji cross stitch!!! And mint tea! And West Virginia Stamp!!!! Super swap, and thank you again <3
Response: Agh! I just learned you can respond to posts here, oops!
I'm glad everything made it to you safe and sound and thanks for the recipe, i'll totally have to try it one of these days leading up to finals!
