Comment: Shirley! this was a amazing gift box! I absolutely loved everything in the box. The notebook was actually made into a movie and its one of my favorites! so happy to finally have the book. I look forward to using every single thing in the box. did you make the kitchen mat yourself? love all the cute stationary stuff they will all get a good use out of.. Again thank you for everything.
Comment: Fun card -- I love the Arizona version of that card, which I send out frequently. Sorry for the late rating. The family put some swaps on the craft table; it got ignored for 2 (??) weeks. Happy swapping.
Comment: Thanks for the PC. I didn't realize Texas was part of the Confederacy. We just visited friends in GA two weeks ago, and they still call us "Yankees"! So funny.
Thanks again! -----And then I opened the envelope with TWO blank postcards inside! Wow! You outdid yourself! Thank you so much! I like them all! Thanks again!
Comment: Thank you for the postcard! I love Vancouver. :-) Alaskan cruise is definitely on my bucket list (such great wildlife), although I may just go the cheap route and get a cabin on the Alaska Marine Highway ferry. I hope you get to do your Alaskan cruise someday!
Comment: Thank you â¤Â¸â™¥â™ªâ™«*¨*•.¸¸⤠for the sweet ANNIVERSARY card that we will open on that day... & the great gift! I really do appreciate the Coca~Cola lunchbox and it will go lovely on top of my hoosier with my Coke collection! I hope you Enjoy a 💙💚💛â¤ï¸ðŸ’œ rating! Blessings, cc
Response: c c, i am so happy we could resolve the no show card. I am so happy that you like the Coke lunchbox. It has just been sitting in my home waiting for a new place it would get appreciated. Thank you for the rating and the heart. Shirley
Comment: I'm going to be away this weekend so I opened a day early. Thank you for the adorable card & all the extras. It was much more like opening a birthday present than a birthday card!! Happy January birthday!!
Comment: Thank you for the Christmas card & the postcards, Shirley. I spent a winter in Chicago long ago & the Adler Planetarium was one of my favorite escapes. The outhouse is a hoot, & that building in New Zealand is awesome.
Comment: I really like the Christmas penguin card you sent along with the extra goodie tucked inside. Guess what, Shelly Court is literally like 5 blocks away from where I currently live. What a small world!
Comment: Hello Shirley,
Thank you for the lighthouses for the Outer Banks postcard. I love lighthouses and wish I could visit more in my travels. I have seen a few but only in my travels to the East. Where I live ,New Mexico, there are no lighthouses. In fact, the only thing we have to do with water are a few lakes around the state. I live in Albuquerque and there are some lakes within driving distance of the city, However , just no lighthouses!
Comment: I love all the cards you sent. I had to open them all. You included such great extras. LOVE, love, love purple pen and flashlight key chain. I really appreciate everything. It felt like Christmas came early.
Response: I am so happy you liked what I sent. It was fun putting it together. Shirley
Comment: Holiday greetings from Illinois again this year,
Thank you for the neat cat card and extras. I loved what you wrote in the card too:-)
Merry Christmas & Happy Swapping too!🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲
Comment: Hi, Shirley, Christopher Radko ornaments are beautiful! I even always envied people who could collect and keep these ornaments safe from year to year! I’m afraid I’m a bit of a klutz and would have some catastrophe and break them all. Such a colorful card and wonderful ornaments. Wishing you a fabulous Christmas!
Comment: Thank you again for the great card and extras. I love seeing the little ones at Christmas. I have 5 great grands from 2 to 7 years old. I get to see all but 1 and her adoptive parents always post lots of pictures so we can see how she is doing.
Comment: Thank you from your postcards and lovely handwritten note you enclosed! Nicholas Sparks is well know here as well! I am not sure about the movies, but maybe I'll find out if I can see any of them here.
Comment: Shirley ...The postcards from North Carolina are beautiful! Love the fancy "bird's-eye" view, light houses and especially the map of North Carolina (my first). The lovely deer postcard is interesting and unique. I'm delighted to add them to my collection. Thanks for a great swap!
Comment: Now I have to find my little Christmas tree. Thanks so much. I can't wait till December. It finally got cold here in Maryland so I'm getting in the mood for Christmas. Happy HOlidays. Love swapping with you.
Comment: Hi, thanks for the postcard! Wow I am surprised PA is so much less colorful than us in the fall. We have all sorts of colors here now. It's a cool PC nevertheless and I think I have been only a few brief times to the state so it's a nice reminder to go back :)
Comment: Shirley, thanks so much for the wonderful Santa card, and for the extra stickers you put in it too! I love getting such colorful and happy mail in my box, instead of just bills and junk mail. I so look forward to checking each day to see what has arrived and to read the notes that the senders have written. Thank you again for brightening my day with this one!
Comment: Thank you for the card. I had a hard time finding large stickers this year and none left from last year. Walmart usually has the Christmas stuff out by now but they were just starting to bring out Christmas mas and the other stores didn’t have much either. I’m glad they’re not putting out Christmas too early.
I won’t be sending out many crochet items this year, I’ve been having a problem using my hands, for a while I couldn’t even write. Been going to the dr but they haven’t found a solution yet. Oh, the joys of aging. Until next time happy swapping.
Comment: Thank you for the beautiful PC. I will NEVER forget flying into Massachuttes one year at the height of the fall foliage. When we broke through the clouds, the colors were absolutely indescribably beautiful, and something I hope to see again in my lifetime. Thank you again for sharing such a lovely sight!
Comment: Hello there,
I am so sorry for the late rate. I am just now unpacking . Hubby decided to have some construction done in the house and I had to hurry up and pack it all up. Including all my swaps and didn't get a chance to open them until now. Such a awesome swapper.
Comment: Thank you for the great postcards and in such a pretty envelope! Love the stickers too! Isn't it fun to read a book and know the setting so well?? I love that too!! I enjoyed your note, thanks so much xoxo
Comment: Gorgeous! Thank you for sharing such a beautiful card :) You asked the significance of "Midlothian" -- There's lots of history here, and the site of early railroads and coal mines. The Mid-Lothian coal company is a big part of the history. That's all I know :)
Comment: Thank you for the card!! I have been to New Bern once!! Very nice place. The card has a moose on it too. I love moose. I learned something new as well since I did not know the northern lights were in MN too! Take care. :)
Comment: Thanks so much for the cute PC - I love the rabbit and the moon. I understand about not wanting another animal as they are work and can get underfoot. I love my little pom and would be very lonely without her as I'm sure you've experienced. Thanks again for the great PC and hope to see you again in future swaps.
Comment: Thank you for the beautiful lighthouse material and postcard. My friend went to the Outer Banks on vacation a few years ago. She took some beautiful pictures. One day I hope to visit there as well. 💜
Comment: I cried when I opened the package. I wasn't expecting something so wonderful, and considering how my summer has been going this is a wonderful surprise. The beads are BEAUTIFUL! I'll design a necklace around the beads to feature them. The fabric is fantastic and perfect for a scrap quilt. What detergent do you use? It smells lovely! The bookmark made me sigh I love it so much. This is perfect. Thank you so much!
Comment: Thank you for the Portsmouth Village Methodist Church postcard and for suggesting that I read up on the national park! I found some interesting stuff about the "hoi toider" accent and the Outer Banks in general.
Comment: Shirley, thank you so much for the fabulous fabric, they match!! And I LOVE the scarf, it's beautiful! Thank you for the dream catcher too! I am so glad you joined in my swap! Thanks again for everything!!
Comment: We went to Alberta many years ago without a map. We'll have to go back. Thanks for the great card.
And thanks for the CA map. I haven't seen this one.
Also for the Outer Banks card with the Pirates. Fun!
Comment: Thanks for this beautiful PC!!! I love when the ocean is so smooth that it reflects like a mirror! Most of the time, the ocean, in front of my house, is so clear, on calm days, I can see 30 feet down to the bottom. Hugs from Alaska. Sherry
Comment: Shirley thanks for the neat items. My grand daughter Ella has a knack for catching butterflies so the butterfly stickers will be nice for the pages of the scrapbook I'm doing for her. I absolutely love the Elvis card. I did not have this one! It amazes me that I have over 100 Elvis cards and people seem to find ones I don't have. Thanks so much!
Comment: Wish I could give you 10 hearts! The outfit is so cute and I love the matching shoes and sunglasses. Thanks so much for horse fabric and scissors, too. You are so thoughtful and generous. I love swapping with you.
Comment: Oh what a great choice. Thank you for the stunning geographical fun postcard. Oh we have pretty much the same weather here. The summer has a break and the rain took over. Have a great week - the weekend is coming closer and closer. :)
Comment: Love the dress and the necklace and hair clips are super cute. And shoes are always a nice bonus. Also, thanks for the notecards and pen. Oh, and I almost forgot, I always like that you make undies :).
Comment: Wow, I just love the grass skirt and flowers. You went so far beyond the swap. I just love everything. Thanks so much for spoiling me. It will be 90 tomorrow so I'm going to put the outfit on my favorite doll. Thanks so much.
P.S. My husband took the little hula doll and put it in his bathroom. He said the sky light will make it dance all day.
Response: Carol, I had so much fun putting this together once I got the idea of what to do. I like it so much, and I had extras of everything floating around, I made an outfit for my AG doll. Glad your husband liked the hula dancer I threw in. It seems that the husbands are left out when we receive all these wonderful packages. I wonder if he will confiscate the pen once he finds out it is not only a pen but aa flashlight. My husband thinks these are a riot because he can shine it in the tiniest places and see what is there, Take care and I am glad you liked the outfit. Shirley
Comment: Thanks, Shirley, for creative choice of card for the letter N. I would love to spend a vacation in North Carolina--especially in the fall and early winter. I've read so many books set in North or South Carolina, and the lowlands, etc. I like N. Sparks's novels partly because of the setting. Thanks and Happy Swapping!
Comment: Very interesting PC - thanks so much - I really liked it. We've had good weather lately but I know the heat and humidity will be upon us soon - ugh. Thanks again for the interesting PC and stay cool ~~
Comment: Love the cool pc. Haven't been to the Boston Aquarium in years and we go up to Boston for my son's appointments once a month maybe I can get someone to take the kids since I don't do well with crowds or maybe have them play hookie 😉
Comment: Thank you for the beautiful, calming view of North Carolina's lighthouses, complementing shell postage, smiley face sticker, and inspiring quote; I hope I will be able to see/visit some soon -- I always looked forward to roadtrips with my family as a kid :)
Comment: Great minds must work in the same direction because I sent out the same PC to my partner -- so funny. I have a lot of sand dollars that I collected through the years - they are fascinating and the little ones are such fun to try to make them out. Thanks for the great PC :-)
Comment: love the civil wah and the others also
thanks for sending the civil wah and the others - I am ging to look and see if I would make any of those recipes and the other books chances are good I will make some from them. I like these little books also
heart for you
Response: I am so happy you like the Civil Wah one. They have some cute cookbooks like that here but they are a bit pricey. Enjoy and I hope you can make some of them if not it is good for a laugh. Shirley
Comment: Thank you for the card and extras! Those blue bonnets are pretty! Thank you for re-sending the returned card... hopefully the sorter learned where Fairbanks AK is or got taken off sorting duty :)
Comment: Thank you for the lovely fabric quarters , and the darling buttons to match. I know a sweet little girl turning 6next week, ( neighbor) I think I will make something for her with those cute f.q.s She is like a granddaughter to me. Marcia
Comment: Hello Shirley! Thank you for the postcards and your note. I especially liked the National Park Service cards, they are my kind of nerdy. I would open up those paper dolls, have them photocopied at a good print shop and cut out the copies. 74 strikes me as the perfect age to start playing with your toys!
Response: Thank you. You know I just might do that. My granddaughters are coming in July, that would be a fun thing to do.
Comment: Shirley ~ You chose great PCs for this swap - the Pennsylvania waterfall/autumn one is just gorgeous. Thanks so much. I also enjoy Nora Roberts and Elin Hildebrand - I am such an avid reader and always have been so I have numerous authors that I enjoy. Hope you're doing good and we'll see you again at the mailbox in the future ~~
Comment: Thanks for sending the postcard, definitely my first TN mapcard. Yes, I've been to Blountville, TN and visited the Appalachian Caverns and camped on their grounds. It was very pretty. Thanks again! :)
Comment: Need you worry at all this is the best now I am going to sit down and go thru and place the goodies in my cubed storage units
this is the best ever heart for you and
more if I could
I just found the tiny pipe never have I seen one this is so just so great
Comment: I love this PC -- Arizona is one of my favorite states. So many people think the entire state is hot and dry but there are parts of it that get quite a bit of snow in the winter -- it's a diversified state that's for sure. Thanks for the perfect PC for this swap. Hope you have a great week ~~
Comment: Thank you for the beautiful little church postcard. We have one near us that looks similar to this one. A beautiful little church but to the left of it sitting back a little ways is a tire and lube shop with a KFC chicken place out front and the driveway/parking lot is shared with a firehouse that sits on the right side. It seems to have been there so long that the busyness of life has grown up around it. They still have services there. At least the parishioners don't have far to go if they like KFC for Sunday lunch. LOL!
Comment: What an amazing St. Patrick's Day outfit. It is so beautiful. You went way out to make the dress, slip, hooded cape - and the horse outfit. Thank you so much for being so generous. You are such a skilled sewer. I love swapping with you.
P.S. Hope you are feeling better soon. You are one of our most valued swappers.
Response: thank you for your praise. Have you ever worked with moire? Love that material. Am on the mends after another stupid senior fall. Boy, do I watch how I sit in a chair now. Thank you for the heart.
Comment: Thank you for the wonderful card! Such a fun little history to read too. Ironically.. you live in a place famous for pirates, I live in a city famous for mermaids lol. Thank you too for the moving quote :) I love it.
Comment: The awesome lighthouse postcard came in today's mail :) Would be neat to go in one, but really wouldn't want to walk the steps to get to the top haha! We adopted the cats from an animal shelter, so unsure of their lineage, but by the size they have become we are pretty sure they are maine coons. - the big orange one, Romeo weighs 30lbs and Dallas weighs somewhere in his 20 lbs range..haven't weighed him in a bit. Romeo is a character! He has thumbs and knows how to use them for opening door knobs! so have to use deadbolts on the doors haha!
Thank you for the great card :)
Comment: Such a cute horse--thanks, Shirley! Trigger is just a bit before my time, but when I think of a Palomino horse, I think of Little Joe's horse from Bonanza with the different colored patches. Can a Palomino be of a solid color too?
Response: I think Little Joe's horse was a pinto. Thank you for the heart.
Comment: Thanks so much for the beautiful note cards (with extras) and personal note. I'm delighted with the cards you chose for me....the themes and colors are perfect for me. You really made this swap very special. Blessings!
Comment: Beautiful Notecards and great PC. I haven't been reading much and want to get caught up on Nicholas Sparks. Our weather is breaking records mid-60's and up to 70+ the last few days..and then back to 30's with chances of snow this weekend (small flurries). It's been a super mild winter for the Chicago area - we aren't far from Woodridge and I worked fairly close to there (Downers Grove). Have a great day. Take care, Annette
Comment: I just returned from a weekend getaway and what was waiting but your lovely package!!! Thank you so much for the bright & colorful package! This weekend, it seemed that the flowers were bursting through the earth all around me, so how appropriate to receive that beautiful floral tote!!!! And the nail files just matched! Thank you so much for all the goodies. I will enjoy them all, maybe the "to do" list most of all!!! Thank you again!
Comment: Thank you for my post card. I have visited North Carolina before but have never been to New Bern. It looks like a beautiful place to live! That was interesting that Pepsi was originally called Brad's Drink. I wish they hadn't changed it, lol.
Comment: You struck a chord with this card. I have seen too many Pacific sunsets to count. One of my life goals is to see the sunrise over the Pacific. A couple years ago I thought we were in the perfect spot in Hawaii. But when the sun began to rise we saw there was still a strip of land on the other side of the bay, so it wasn't a true ocean sunrise to me. I'll just have to try again.
Comment: Hi Shirley - Great PC :-) I haven't read those Nicholas Sparks books yet. I now have time to catch up but, find myself in the craft room more than readying so far. Happy New Year. Take care, Annette
Comment: Just went through the bunch of Christmas mail that arrived during my little winter holiday - sorry for rating so late! Thank you so much for the beautiful Christmas card & the little extra! Happy 2017 :)
Comment: Thanks for the great PCs. . . I especially like the pioneer buildings of New Zealand and the Pismo Beach, CA one - such a neat area. Thanks again for the great PCs and hope you had a great New Years ~~
Response: Thank you! I am so glad you liked what I picked for you. Thank you for the heart. Happy New Year! Shirley
Comment: Oh Shirley, I just ADORE the Santa postcard! He is going on the cover of my Christmas journal ! Thank you!!! I also love the other 2, I didn't have one from Holland yet. I enjoyed reading your note as well, Go Patz! :0)
Response: I was hoping you would like him. Thank you for the heart. Shirley
Comment: Thank you for the super cute card, and the awesome little extras. I had to lol at your comment about my Christmas gifts being underwear free! I hope your season thus far has been merry and bright, and that all your Christmas wishes come true!
Comment: What a wonderful selection of PCs you chose for me! I love them all, but the Eastern Airlines plane brought back memories for me of days gone by -- flew that airline a few times in my much younger days :-) Thanks again for the great selection and have a wonderful Christmas and a joyous New Year -- hope to see you in swaps in 2017 ~~
Response: I remember cloth place mats, napkins, small bottle of wine and steak. That was not first class. Now a days, you are lucky to get a bag of peanuts with 8 peanuts in it. Thank you for the heart.
Comment: Thank you so much for the card and especially the wish for me. It brought a tear to my eye. My husband wished for the same thing. Christmas is hard for me and that's why I join a lot of Christmas card swaps, it helps take my mind off other things. If I could give you more hearts I would. Thank you so much for your sweetness.
Comment: Hi Shirley! Thanks for the nice Christmas card and postcards. Vintage PC's are my favorite. I visited New Bern many years ago and really liked it. Thank you for the New Bern postcard too. Merry Christmas! Patricia
Comment: Hello my friend Shirley! Thank you for the beautiful holiday card showing snowy scene of bird houses and song birds. Here in Central FL we finally got rain, and having rain again today. Its refreshing to have air washed clean after long time. Happy Holidays and Happy December!
Comment: One of the loveliest cards I have ever seen. Love my birds! Did you make the Santa origami? He is adorable. I placed him on my tree. I already used the stickers as well. Thank-you for a very nice swap. Merry Christmas
Response: Unfortunately I didn't make the Santa origami, but I thought I would pass it on to someone else to enjoy.
Comment: I got one of your cards - with Chinese on the front! Neat card! Thanks! - I just received your original card (I think) with the cross-stitch sampler! Don't know why it was returned in the first place! Thanks so much!
Comment: Beautiful cards. Thank-you. I also appreciate the patience in receiving your rating. I was away on vacation till late last night. Was a pleasure coming home to open your envelope.
Have a great Holiday season.
Comment: Thank you for the fun, glittery Blackbeard/Pirates of the Carolinas card -- it made me think of fond memories appearing in the ensemble of The Pirates of Penzance when I was a sophomore in college alongside some of my best friends :) How amazing that the Queen Anne's Revenge remained underwater until so recently! Hope you are having a good weekend <3
Comment: Hello Shirley! Thank you for the beautiful Door County postcard view of apple trees, reminds me of Autumn apple gathering, apple cider, apple butter, etc. Happy Thanksgiving!
Response: I am glad you liked it. I really miss that part, living here in eastern NC where there are no apple tree. To me that is more Autumn than leaves turning colors, but nice to have both of them together. I told my husband next year we are taking a trip to northern NC so I can go to the orchards and enjoy the beauty of Fall. Shirley
Comment: Thank you so much for the dandelion postcard! I love it and so did my little one since we are always plucking them from our yard and making wishes :) Thank you also for your beautiful note. You are so right, my journey is only at the beginning with my children and there are so many unknown blessings already on their way that I am grateful for. Xoxo
Comment: Thank you for your lovely card you sent. I love collecting and using Christmas cards, but many are idealistic images. Sleigh ride wouldn't be for me if it's cold and freezing. Still, it's lovely to see.
Comment: Thank you for the vintage German Post-themed card and great stamps, Shirley! I especially like the National Parks Centennial featuring the Cape Hatteras coast :) Thank you also for bringing some light to this overcast Tuesday <3
Comment: Thank you my friend Shirley for the beautiful violet tulips postcard you sent to me for the color PC swap. Good to hear from you, glad we could meet up again in a swap. Hoping you have a Happy November!
Comment: Thanks! Loved hearing all about your sentimental journey through these great postcards and all the memories you shared, plus where you'd like to travel. That original Walmart, Walton 5 and Dime card is my favorite!
Comment: Thank you for the cute card and stickers! It does feel weird sending Christmas cards so early, but I went crazy last year during the after Christmas specials and bought a TON of cards, so I'm glad to be able to use them! :-)
Comment: Thanks so much for the NC PCs for this swap. . . the license plate goes into my collection :-) I am enjoying the fall weather. . . we did have a little rain early today but it's been over a week since we had any so it was definitely welcome. My friend lives in Calabash, NC and they had to evacuate but their house didn't get any flooding which is a very good thing - was horrible for so many down that way and can't imagine what it was like. Glad to hear you didn't get any big damage. Thanks again for the great NC PCs ~~
Comment: Aww, we swap again. I can't wait till we really start swapping Christmas cards. I just bought a variety box of Christmas cards without envelopes. Now I'll get to use up some of my papers I've had for years. Thank you.
Comment: Ohhh! Love the sparkly pirate postcard. That's two things you don't often see paired.. Pirates and Sparkles..hahahahaa. I never knew what "blow the men down" stood for! Loved learning a new fact :)
Comment: Yes, Shirley, I'd say this PC meets the requirements for "weird," though McCall calls it "serious nonsense"....and that pretty well sums it up....though it IS interesting. ☺ Thanks for sharing. Hugs and hearts coming now.... â¤â¤ jinanne
Comment: Hi Shirley, thank you for the NYC card, which arrived just around the anniversary of 9/11 and caused me to stop and reflect for a while, particularly given your card showed the new WTC tower. I was also interested to see the new Freedom Tower depicted on the card as when I was in NYC last (2013) it was only partially constructed. Take care and thanks again for the card xox
Comment: Ha ha! If I had a nickel for every time I didn't understand something published by McSweeney's, I'd have at least $10. Lol. I really like a lot of the pcs in this collection, but some of them are complete head-scratchers!
Comment: I knew wild horses were at Assateaque, Virginia, but had no idea they were also at the Outer Banks. Same "no touching" rules apply at Assateaque. We are heading to Ocean City, Maryland, next week and hope to take a trip down to Assateque to visit the ponies. Thanks for a good swap!
Comment: Thank you! Orange is one of my colors when I got a color analysis way back in the day. Where did you get the cute McCall's card? I thought that was cool and took me back to my childhood.
Response: I guess we are in the same childhood era. When I saw those note cards I knew I had to buy them. I got them at my local fabric store about 2 months ago. Everyone I send them too says the same thing. Memories.
Comment: Beautiful PC of Hoses - love it. I can't believe it's mid-September. Hoping for lots of fall color soon..getting cooler some days, while humid/warm other days. Have a great day. Take care, Annette
Comment: I love the cards you picked for me! My fav is probably the Rocky Mountains one. In the Canadian Rockies there is a Moraine Lake and now I found out that the US Rockies have Moraine Park...very cool! And you even sent me my first Great Smoky Mountains postcard, thank you!
Comment: I loved hearing about your memory of Pennsylvania! I don't think I've ever seen a cow wash although it makes perfect sense if you have a lot of cows. I wonder how the cows feel about it. Thanks for the great PC and for sharing your memories of Pennsylvania ~~
Comment: It really is a small world! I know New River well -- my father was born and raised in Rich Creek, Virginia, and during the Depression one of his uncles had a job walking the tracks along the river looking for loose or rotten ties. I even have New river PC;s in my collection! This card was a real treat -- thanks a bunch, and happy swapping!
Comment: Hi Shirley, thank you for your beautiful postcard. I have a friend that is a photographer living in New Bern. She loves it there. I too could pass on the cold winters. Born and raised here for 39 years. Not sure what I would do without the four seasons. Hope you have a great Labor Day celebration.
Comment: What a great selection of PCs you sent for this swap -- I love them! It's been hot & humid here this summer although we're in a very short spell of mid-80s. . . about 5 days worth and then it's back up into the 90s with higher humidity. I, like you, just relax in the A/C :-) Thanks again for the great PCs and hope to see you again at the mailbox -- yours or mine!
Comment: Shirley, thank you so much for all the postcards!!! I'm in love with the pelican! The kids here are back in school too. I'm glad we still have lots of warm days ahead!!! Have a good week and thanks again!!! xxx
Comment: Ahhhh, I love Milton Glaser's work :) I also really appreciate that this is Russian Tea Room-related (some of the very best English breakfast tea I've had in my life), which I love as a tea aficionado, New Yorker at heart, and a Who's the Boss? fan <3 I hadn't known the Peter the Great trivia, either! You rock, Shirley! Happy Tuesday!
Comment: Hi Shirley! Thank you for the lovely cards you chose to send for this swap. When the kids were young we always vacationed at the Outer Banks so I'm crazy for that card. Love that peacock and the profile card, too.
Comment: What a crazy story! I can't imagine a cop pulling that off today. One time I was speeding thru Missouri and a semi truck I was about to pass swerved into my lane and slowed down. I was swearing an gesturing like mad until we passed a hidden cop. Later as I passed the truck I waved a big thank you to the driver.
Comment: Thanks for the beautiful card of New Bern, I never heard of it before and it's great to learn about new places!
I agree the teacher's work is lovely, to get children more involved with the world :)
Update: What a surprise, another card from you for this swap! I absolutely love rubber duckies.. thanks alot! <3
Comment: Omigoodness, that's quite a story! I've occasionally followed behind a truck, too, but the bigger they get the scarier I think they are on the interstates. Thanks for sharing your story and making this a great swap.
Comment: Thank you for the thoughtful, diverse postcard choices (I have never seen the Dalà self-portrait, and I loved the Hollywood Bowl-centric card since A Chorus Line was just done there :), lovely washi samples, and grape note! It has been sweltering and rainy here, too, but I will not complain, since we haven't experienced the heartbreaking flooding elsewhere in the state. Happy Monday!
Comment: Hi Shirley! I love lighthouses, so was very excited to get your pc! Visiting the Outer Banks is on my bucket list! Hard to believe how quickly summer is going by, but I think that is because I am having so much fun! LOL! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Comment: Thank you so much Shirley -- I love the bag!!! The extras that you sent with it are great...so exciting to receive such a wonderful parcel. Thank you again Charlene (my doll is still dressed in the shorts and top that you sent her in our last saw p😊)
Response: Glad you liked it. Thought it was different with all the papers that went with it. I am amazed that your doll still had the outfit on that I made her quite awhile ago. Hope to swap with you soon again. Shirley
Comment: Thank you for the nice Loon post card. I love loons. I was born and grew up in Minnesota and this is their state bird. You hear them mostly at dusk and they have a haunting, lonesome sounding call. Thanks again.
Comment: Hi Shirley, always nice to be partners with you, although I think it has been awhile! TY for the New Bern pc and info about that being the birthplace of Pepsi - I had not clue - wonder if I would remember that if it ever come up on a trivia?! LOL! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Comment: Thank you for the lovely postcard. I have a few differnet versions but the meaning is the same. It is a good story. I hope as you read this you are feeling some relief. I always wanted to learn to crochet.
Comment: Got my book today, just in time , I just finished one last night, now I don't have to wonder what to read next. Thank you so much, I am glad you passed on the one you received, I will be sure to do the same, I love to read, last week my son drove a car to me from Texas, ( he is a mechanic and mine was worn out) I had to give him a extra suitcase to take home full of books, he likes to read too. ha ha
Comment: Belated thank you for the gorgeous moonrise card, Shirley! (I am just finishing up rating a humongous stack of mail that arrived in late May/early June but was withheld by a family member until recently.) The image looks unreal, almost from outer space with the bold colors :) I would love to be able to gaze at the stars from the forest or beach. Hope you are getting to see this view often this summer!
Comment: Hi Shirley WOW!
You made my day. I just loved all of the stationery. You went way above and beyond - I went all day with a smile on my face. I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. Thanks so much and I hope we can swap again soon. Pat
Response: Pat, I love people that walk around with a smile on their face. I makes me feel good also. I was so happy that I could do this as the stationery was just piling up as I do not write letter anymore. If I do, they are written on the computer as my hands can not take the pressure of a pen anymore. Enjoy it! Shirley
Comment: Sorry it took me so long to rate! I love the hostels, they are absolutely darling!!! My granddaughter is at the gymnastics trials in San Jose, so she hadn't seen them yet, but I know she will love them also. Thanks so much toe another great package. Can't wait to see what you have come up with for this next swap!!!
Response: Betty Great, glad you like them. Hopefully your granddaughter will too. My what a talented granddaughter you have. Hope she did well in the gymnastic finals. Granddaughter seem to be so talented now a days. Avery, my 11 year old granddaughter, was the MVP in her league this year for soccer and will be advancing to a higher level. The only one in her whole division. Boy, does that make a Grammie proud. Take care of yourself. Shirley
Comment: What a wonderful piece Grandma had good taste. I'll take good care of it I promise! ♥♥♥♥♥
Response: Boy things have changed and all those lovely pieces of silver aren't used anymore. Enjoy it as each of her children gave her a cranberry server. With a family of 9 children and 13 grandchildren, similar Christmas gifts were gotten each year. Shirley
Comment: Love, love the outfit. I like that pattern when you use it, I have never made it (I know I have it in my stash). I hate making hats, so I always feel special when you make me hats as I only knit hats. The little extras always make the package extra special. My Kit is already for the 4th on Monday. Thanks so very much.
Response: Roxie, so glad you liked it. I always enjoy making outfits for you. Thank you for the heart. Shirley
Comment: Thank you Shirley for the Pasty recipe card. The family story that you shared with me that goes along with the recipe is wonderful. The first pasty I ever had was in Jamaica and it was delicious. Thanks for sending this wonderful card.
Comment: I love the sea turtle postcard. No, I have not read "Swimming Lessons" but I love that it is about a woman that works with sea turtles, will have to check it out. Sounds like a great book for lazy summer days =)
Comment: I just loved the Note Cards. Reminded me so much of the Clothing patterns we had in the 70's. Awesome. Thank you.
Response: I just found a box of them at my local fabric store. The 70 clothes were something else. I remember sewing my husband leisure suits, He must have had a dozen of them in different colors. When I sewed something for me, I sewed him a tie to match my outfit. Shirley
Comment: Thank you so much Shirley!! I'm just like a little girl on Christmas. I LOVE both outfits!! I've actually just started to collect American/Canadian Girl things for my granddaughter but will cherish these - I almost tried the denim shorts but was intimidated by them, lol. The shoes and glasses are really cute too😃 Thanks again, you are so kind Charlene
Response: Charlene, so glad you liked the outfits. My oldest grand daughter is 33 and youngest is 6, with 3 great grand daughters before my youngest grand daughter so I am almost at the point of being American Girl tired out. Shirley
Comment: beautiful mandalas! The largest one you made has been claimed by our tiny six week old kitten -- and it fits perfectly in his bed! thank you!! <3
Response: I am glad you like them. Your little kitten has good taste in yarn. Oh, what I would give to have a kitten again, but at my age, I don't know what would happen to it if something happened to me, so I just enjoy others.
Comment: You chose great postcards to match my profile - thank you! I love the shimmery and glitter effects - I don;t have any cards like that! Thanks for an extra pc and the fun National Park lighthouse trading cards, too!
Comment: I am very happy with the fabric that she picked for me, She used my favorite colors and little flowers that I love. And i love the extras even though it wasnt necessary she went the extra mile, put a smile on my face! Thank you!
Comment: Hello Shirley ! Thank you very much for this great choice of postcards and the bonus.
Sure, I remember you and I still use the tote bag you sent me. I hope to swap with you again. Take care :-)
Comment: Great PC of the Civil War - I'm sure it's from a re-enactment! So much controversy lately over the Civil War and it certainly has caused some issues. The men who fought during that war shouldn't be judged by today's standards because times were definitely different then. Thanks again for the 'when' PC ~~
Comment: I love the new Carolina PCs - thank you so much. The non-touristy one of Hillbilly Livin' is so funny - this is the second one of these Hillbilly Livin' ones I've seen and they are just too funny - who said women weren't equal back in the day?!? Thanks again for a great selection and hope to see you in more swaps in the future ~~
Comment: Thanks for letting me know about your love for lighthouses! I have to say i agree with you and have found a fascination for them too! We have them in Oregon! Hope i can send you a pc of them sometime if you have not already received them from Oregon! If not you might have a double hehe! Enjoy!
Comment: Surf the Carolinas! LOVED the pc and Shirley awesome that spring has finally arrived where you live! Thank you so much! Glad you see the hummingbirds. Bet the water is warmer than here in Oregon at the beach! Hehe!
Comment: Thank you for the card! It put a smile on my face. I love the little cat in a box as well...super cute! It sounds like yo had a nice birthday. I would love getting lots and lots of flowers! Happy Birthday!
Comment: Your PC arrived when I was still sick from a virus I picked up at Christmas. I am finally better anc catching up. Sorry to be so late. I loved the cards and thanks for the extra one. The stamps were great too. Many thanks. Chris crispycritter
Comment: Shriley ~ I always enjoy getting PCs of covered bridges. For some reason they've always fascinated me and I am amazed at how many are still in use today. The grist mill PC is so pretty and they are very interesting. I live about a mile or so from George Washington's gristmill and the tour is amazing. Thanks again for the beautiful covered bridges ~~
Comment: When I looked at the postcard you sent, my first thought was waterfalls in the West Indies looks pretty much the same as they do here. Then I read you note and you said the same thing. Love that! Thank you for a good swap!
Comment: Shirley, what a beautiful view of New Bern! I would certainly like to take a boat down either river all the way to the ocean. That must be a beautiful journey. I would love to visit North Carolina--it sounds like a beautiful state. I've been just over the border into NC when we went to the Smoky Mountains and were on the Blue Ridge Road. I love the mountains, but would need to be relatively close to a pretty large city. I have broken totally away from the midwest farming life I knew as a child. I could NEVER go back to it. I've wanted to live in a city when I was a very young child---it's just that I didn't expect it to be in such a hot, humid, sub-tropical climate. I'd love having all four seasons if I lived in NC! I miss that here in Houston.
Comment: I enjoyed getting the Custer PC. . . I was brought up in Rapid City, South Dakota and Custer is the one who first announced the discovery of gold in the Black Hills near present-day Custer, SD. His announcement led to the Black Hills Gold Rush and gave way to the notorious town of Deadwood, SD. It also led to gold being mined in that area for years (Homestake Gold Mine). Naturally Custer was one of the historical persons we learned about in school as he was such an integral part of history in that area and particularly with the Lakota Sioux.
Response: I am glad you liked the postcard and thank you for the little history lesson. Being raised in Massachusetts, we didn't learn that about him, so it was interesting to learn.
Comment: Wow What a Wonderful selection of Green items. Love Them all, You were very Generous !
Love the Table mats.. Great Idea ! ! I know what you mean about trying to find Green items ! ! Loved finding this package in my mail box today.! !
Response: You are welcome and thanks for the heart. Shirley
Comment: I wish I could give you a million hearts! A big Disney box in my mail box made my day. What an adorable beach chair you made. It is so cute and reminds me of how much I am looking forward to summer coming. The dolls will have to see if they still fit in their swimsuits (they snacked all winter). Also loved the Easter egg and the felt goodies inside. I'm going to fill the jar with sugar free jelly beans for Bill. The rainbow charm is perfect to attach to my purse. I will think of you every day. Also loved the A.G. stickers and the thoughtful horse card. I know you selected that card just for me. You just went so above and beyond a normal swap. Thanks so much. Love swapping with you.
Response: Carol, I am so happy you liked the chair. My husband is having fun cutting the pipe. I have other projects for him once he finishes painting the garage floor. I can't wait for spring, It was wonderful last week and now it is very cold. No snow though. Happy Easter. Shirley
Comment: Thank you so much for the lovely cards! You picked some great ones for me. Happy to add them to my collection! I OBX and have stayed in Nags Head. My grandmother lives in Supply by Holden Beach, so I am familiar with the east coast of NC! My grandfather lives in Hickory. :) Take care!
Response: Small world. Glad you liked them. Shirley
Comment: Hi Shirley! Thank you so much for the awesome pc! I love lighthouses and these look great! Are you able to go inside any of them? I might have to add a trip to the Outer Bank to my bucket list! Happy St. Paddy's Day! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Comment: Hi Shirley - this postcard must have been meant for me! We lived in Greenfield, MA when I was in 5th grade...and I remember going to Deerfield. Might have even seen this house...?! My class went on a field trip to Old Sturbridge Village, which is also in that area. Thanks for sparking some fun memories! Funny that you sent me that from NC to NC :) Have a fabulous day!
Response: I lived in Northampton, MA most of my life 67 years until we moved to NC 6 years ago. Couldn't take anymore snow. I usually go to the Old Deerfield Store to get postcards from that area. I guess all the Schools around there must have gone to Deerfield and Old Sturbridge village. Glad it brought back some memories. It is so hard to send cards to people in NC because most of my postcards are from there. Now if NC would just warm up, I'll be all set.
